Job description

Position Summary:

The HR Assistant is responsible for supporting the Human Resources Department at Mastery. They will support onboarding of new hires, benefits enrollment, and maintaining accurate employee records, in addition to other responsibilities as noted below. They must be exceptionally organized, as well as customer friendly.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the on-boarding process for new hires including updating new hire documents, distributing paperwork to new hires, data entry of new hires, and compliance verification.
  • Assist the benefits enrollment process for all staff to ensure accurate and timely enrollments.
  • Assist in efforts to maintain compliance with local, state, and federal labor and human relations laws.
  • Maintain new and existing employee personnel files including legal documentation, such as clearances, and certifications.
  • Support tracking of teacher certification and highly qualified (HQT) status to ensure Mastery is in compliance with Charter School law.
  • Assist the finance team during audit preparations, ensuring all proper personnel documentation is accurate.
Qualifications:
  • Exceptional detail-orientation and organization skills
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong customer-service and communication skills
  • Ability to work well independently, as well as in a team
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Solid Excel and data management software skills
  • Experience in K-12 education, public education, charter schools, or historically under-resourced school communities preferred.
  • Experience with PA/NJ Teacher/Administrative Certification a plus
Education:
Associates degree (Bachelor's degree preferred) and/or 1-3 years relevant HR and administrative experience
Other Requirements:
  • Ability to physically perform the essential duties of the role as outlined above, and to work in the environmental conditions required, such as traveling to network campuses, monitoring and interacting with students, in-person facilitation of trainings, etc.;
  • This role may require frequent travel between multiple locations. Reliable transportation is essential to fulfill job responsibilities.
Bonus and Salary Information:
  • External candidates hired for this role are eligible for a $1,000 signing bonus as well as up to $5,000 for relocation expenses!
