Overview
Advanced Technologies & Laboratories International, Inc. (ATL) is hiring a Health and Safety Specialist for the NIOSH National Personal Protective Technology Laboratory in Pittsburgh, PA.
Overview:
  • The contractor shall provide a U.S. licensed medical provider (registered nurse or paramedic) to supervise and monitor the performance of evaluative tests involving personal protective equipment (PPE) under study at the National Personal Protective Technology Laboratory in Pittsburgh, PA. This medical provider must have a background in delivery of emergent and/or urgent healthcare services and substantial experience conducting and/or supervising diagnostic cardiac stress tests. Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) experience and certification are mandatory.
  • The U.S. licensed medical provider shall also have experience supervising and/or monitoring diagnostic cardiac stress tests, conducting EKGs (to include interpreting EKGs), and delivering emergent or urgent clinical care, including BLS and ACLS.
  • Primary duty will be to oversee and support a range of medical services, such as:
    • Continuous Biological monitoring (e.g., blood pressure, heart rate, peripheral blood oxygen saturation) during human subject or human participant exercise tests.
    • Guidance about and/or screening of human subjects and human participants capability to safely perform evaluative tests included in research and non-research protocols.
    • Determining when to stop an evaluative test for physiologic and/or safety reasons.
    • Determining when additional medical support or intervention may be necessary, such as application of external cooling, placement of intravenous access, administration of emergency medications, or utilization of emergency medical equipment.
  • Secondary duty will be to assist NIOSH project officers by:
    • Helping preparing materials (e.g., study evaluation metrics, research proposals, institutional review board applications or forms) for NIOSH Project Officers.
    • Assist NIOSH project officers by providing medical advice related to study design and execution.
    • Assist with writing and reviewing internal CDC/NIOSH summary reports of research findings.
