Job description

WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH
You will report to the NikeSKIMS Director of Technical Design and partner closely with fellow Technical Designers, Design, Product Development, Product and Merchandising, Materials/Trims and Quality teams and other key stakeholders across both the Nike and SKIMS organizations to bring product to life - acting as a critical connector between two iconic brands with a shared ambition: redefining what women's activewear can be.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We're looking for a Senior Technical Designer to help shape the future of the NikeSKIMS business. This individual will drive the fit and construction of assigned styles from initial concept through buy ready, adhering to critical dates, product specification, sustainability, performance and profitability goals for collections that fuse Nike's performance authority with SKIMS' mastery of fit, form, and feel.
In this fast-paced role, you'll thrive in ambiguity, problem solve on the fly, navigate competing priorities, and embrace the creative tension that comes with building something new between two powerhouse brands. Above all, you will be product-obsessed--someone who deeply understands the NikeSKIMS consumer and translates her need for form and function into activewear and lifestyle product she can't live without.
  • Bachelor's degree in Apparel Design, Textile Science, or related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience, and training
  • A minimum of 6 years of directly relevant work experience
  • Deep understanding of the apparel development process from inception through production, including pattern making, grading, construction, materials, costing, manufacturing and quality.
  • Specialization in Lifestyle and/or Outerwear a plus
  • Strong problem solving, organization and communication skills.
  • Strong experience interpreting design intent and offering alternative solutions.
  • Strong experience writing product specs and construction standards instructions.
  • Strong experience working with factory vendors to ensure and improve manufacturability.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience using Adobe Illustrator, CAD Pattern Design software (Optitex) and 3D software (Clo/Browzwear) highly desired.
  • Proficiency with MS Office programs.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time (domestic and international).

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON
You will collaborate daily with Design, Product/Merchandising, Product Development, Fabric/Trim and Quality teams to build top quality seasonal product. You will manage style prototyping, resolve manufacturing and construction issues in close partnership with the triad and factory teams to deliver top quality product.
In this role you will:
  • Lead complex initiatives, influence senior stakeholders, and drive innovation through NikeSKIMS product creation model.
  • Manage assigned styles through to fit approval within the NikeSKIMS Apparel Technical Design team. Create and maintain detailed tech packs for factory partners, including measurements, construction sketches, and graphic placements
  • Request, track, review, and comment on physical and digital prototypes
  • Lead focused proto review and fit sessions with the triad team, inclusive of senior leaders
  • Navigate gates, calendars, and key milestones to ensure on-time buy readiness
  • Communicate progress, risks, and solutions with clarity in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment
  • Collaborate with the Nike GDM Standards team, driving fit and construction standards and tools specifically for NikeSKIMS apparel product
  • Formally and informally mentor members of the team to facilitate the work and team building
