OUR STORY
THE CHICAGO CUBS FRANCHISE, a charter member of Major League Baseball's National League since 1876, has won the National League pennant 17 times and was the first team to win back-to-back World Series titles in the 1907 and 1908 seasons. In 2016, the Chicago Cubs made history again when the team won its first World Series in 108 years, ending the longest championship drought in North American sports. Known for its ivy-covered outfield walls, hand-operated scoreboard and famous Marquee, iconic Wrigley Field has been the home of the Chicago Cubs since 1916 and is the second oldest ballpark in Major League Baseball. In 2009, the Ricketts family assumed ownership of the Chicago Cubs and established three main goals for the organization: Win the World Series, Preserve and Improve Wrigley Field, and Be a Good Neighbor.
HOW YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE:
The Senior Manager, Security Operations is responsible for the leadership, operational effectiveness, and overall security risk posture of Sloan Park and the Nike Performance Center in Mesa, Arizona. This role provides end-to-end ownership of physical security operations, security technology systems, contract security services, emergency preparedness, and incident management programs. The Senior Manager serves as the primary security leader for the Mesa campus and is accountable for security performance metrics, regulatory and policy compliance, continuous improvement initiatives, and the protection of employees, players, guests, visitors, and organizational assets.
The Senior Manager serves as the primary security liaison between Sloan Park and the Chicago Cubs Central Security Operations team, ensuring alignment of security strategy, operational standards, risk mitigation efforts, incident management, and security technology initiatives across the organization. This role partners closely with Facilities, Event Operations, Legal, and local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to deliver a coordinated, proactive, and enterprise-aligned security program.
THE DAY-TO-DAY:
Security Leadership & Risk Management
  • Develop and execute the overall security strategy for Sloan Park and the Nike Performance Center, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and enterprise risk management priorities.
  • Own and continuously assess the security risk posture of the site, identifying vulnerabilities and implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Establish annual security goals, operational standards, and performance expectations for all security functions.
  • Lead the security partnership with Human Resources, Facilities, Event Operations, Legal, contract security and external public safety agencies.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with local, state, and federal law enforcement and emergency management partners.

Security Operations Management
  • Manage the daily security operations program in partnership with contract security providers and the Chicago Cubs Security Operations team.
  • Conduct and oversee security patrol programs to ensure properties remain safe, secure, and aligned with Chicago Cubs security standards.
  • Ensure trespassers, unauthorized individuals, and other threats are managed consistent with company policy and applicable laws.
  • Be prepared to lead and coordinate immediate responses to emergencies, critical incidents, and crisis situations.
  • Program and manage all access control schedules and coordinate the printing, preparation, and distribution of employee credentials.

Performance Management & KPI Accountability
  • Establish, monitor, analyze, and report security Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including incident rates, response times, compliance performance, operational effectiveness and corrective action completion rates.
  • Own security metrics and maintain accountability for achieving performance targets and continuous improvement outcomes.
  • Analyze trends and operational data to identify opportunities for proactive risk reduction and process improvement.

Contract Security Provider Ownership
  • Directly manage all contracted security service providers supporting Sloan Park operations.
  • Establish and maintain service level agreements (SLAs), performance expectations, and measurable deliverables.
  • Conduct regular business reviews, audits, and performance evaluations of contract security partners.
  • Hold contract security providers accountable for execution of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), contractual obligations, staffing levels, and service quality
  • Identify and implement opportunities to optimize staffing, deployment models, service delivery, effectiveness, and cost efficiency.
  • Own vendor performance outcomes rather than solely coordinating vendor activities.

Security Technology & Systems
  • Own the strategy, administration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of security technology platforms supporting the campus
  • Coordinate issue resolution and vendor support for systems including, Genetec Access Control and CCTV, Evolv Screening Systems, WebEOC and Titan HST
  • Lead future technology enhancement projects, system integrations, and security infrastructure improvements.

Event Security Management
  • Oversee assigned components of event security operations for Spring Training, concerts, special events, and other facility activities.
  • Lead security planning for ingress/egress, perimeter security, command operations, emergency response, and crowd management in collaboration with Event Operations.
  • Partner with event leadership and external agencies to ensure effective execution of event security strategies.

Emergency Preparedness & Incident Management
  • Lead emergency preparedness planning, training, exercises, and after-action review programs
  • Support and oversee implementation of evacuation, severe weather, active threat, and other emergency preparedness programs.
  • Maintain accountability for incident investigations, reporting standards, and trend analysis.
  • Ensure security incidents are documented through comprehensive reports outlining facts, actions taken, findings, and corrective actions

Compliance & Continuous Improvement
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, Major League Baseball SOPs, applicable regulations, and contractual requirements.
  • Conduct security assessments, audits, and operational reviews to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and implement corrective action plans resulting from incidents, exercises, audits, or operational reviews.
  • Drive a culture of accountability, service excellence, safety, and continuous improvement.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
  • Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, Security Management, Emergency Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent education and relevant professional experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in corporate security, venue security, law enforcement, military, or related security leadership roles.
  • Minimum of 3 years leading supervisors, managers, or large contract security teams.
  • Demonstrated experience managing third-party security providers and service-level agreements.
  • Experience developing security KPIs, metrics, operational reporting, and performance management programs.
  • Strong knowledge of physical security systems, access control, CCTV, emergency response, and incident management.
  • Proven experience conducting risk assessments and implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

Work Schedule
  • Must be available to work nights, weekends, holidays, and all home Spring Training games and major events.
  • Must be available to respond to emergencies and critical incidents outside of normal business hours.

WHAT SETS YOU APART:
  • CPP, PSP, PCI, or similar ASIS certification.
  • Prior experience supporting professional sports, entertainment venues, large events, or public assembly facilities.
