Position Overview

Better Care Counseling Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) to join our team, focusing specifically on the unique mental health needs of the geriatric population. This full-time position, operated remotely, aims to provide specialized care through assessments, counseling, and collaborative care planning, supporting elderly individuals as they navigate the complexities of aging and related emotional challenges.

Work Environment

This role will be a remote position, offering flexibility while ensuring you remain engaged with a dedicated team of healthcare providers. Regular working hours from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, encourage a balance between your professional responsibilities and personal life, reinforcing our commitment to your well-being as a valued team member.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough mental health assessments for elderly clients, pinpointing specific care requirements to develop personalized treatment plans.
  • Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions that address the emotional and psychological challenges related to aging, helping clients enhance their coping mechanisms.
  • Work closely with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to formulate comprehensive care strategies, ensuring a harmonious approach to client treatment.
  • Provide education and training to family members and staff on effective techniques to support the mental health of seniors, emphasizing communication and understanding.
  • Deliver grief and loss counseling, aiding clients and their families in processing emotions associated with end-of-life issues.
  • Design and implement cognitive stimulation programs to help maintain mental acuity and enrich the lives of elderly individuals.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on the geriatric population, catering to a diverse group of elderly individuals who may be struggling with various mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, grief, and the effects of cognitive decline. You will be instrumental in fostering a supportive environment, recognizing the unique cultural backgrounds and life experiences of each client.

Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution is required.
  • Possession of a valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential.
  • At least four years of recent experience in geriatric counseling and mental health services.
  • Demonstrated expertise in placement diagnostics and evidence-based interventions tailored for elderly clients.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build meaningful connections with elderly clients.
  • A genuine sense of empathy and cultural sensitivity, essential for supporting older adults from various backgrounds.
Preferred Experience
