About the job

Performs a variety of imaging procedures and is responsible for patient safety protocols. Functions as the first line interface with customers in the successful accomplishment of their imaging needs. Participates in CQI activities. Radiology/CT Techs working at our Free-Standing ERs are proficient in laboratory functions and frequently assist in performing various laboratory tests. Competency will be maintained in accordance with criteria defined by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT), and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex tasks associated with the operation of Computed Tomography, X-ray, and related equipment to produce special images of specific body parts.
  • Use radiation safety measures and protection devices to comply with government regulations and to ensure safety of patients and staff.
  • Take thorough and accurate patient medical histories and notify the Radiologist, as necessary.
  • Screen patients for CT contrast safety prior to procedure performance.
  • Explain procedures and observe patients to ensure safety and comfort during exam.
  • Coordinate work with clerical personnel and other technologists.
  • Start I.V's and administer contrast media as directed and per protocol.
  • Monitor patients' conditions and reactions, reporting abnormal signs to physician.
  • Performs laboratory care for patients of all age groups through the use of laboratory processes
  • Maintains positive working relationships with staff and other departments to provide optimal quality outcomes within the framework of professional laboratory practice

  • Independently performs a wide variety of laboratory procedures in Hematology, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Immunology, and Coagulation

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technologist program is required
  • CT experience is required
  • 2+ years of Radiologic/Imaging experience preferred
  • 1+ years of previous Emergency Room experience preferred
  • 1+ years of previous Laboratory experience preferred
  • Experience working in fast-paced environment preferred
  • Must have current ARRT-CT and TMB Radiology Technologist license
