Internal Medicine Hospitalist

Our client in South-Central Indiana is currently seeking locum tenens Internal Medicine Hospitalist to join their team. Family Practice trained physicians with hospital experience and experience running codes/procedures will also be considered.

Requirements:

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine. Family Practice trained physicians with hospital experience and experience running codes/procedures will also be considered.
  • Active permanent IN license required
  • Need experience with procedures; proctoring available
  • Need providers with more block availability
  • Candidates who only wants day shifts will be considered

Practice Details:

  • Schedule rotation starts on Tuesdays. 7 on 7 off rotation. Doctors are on rotation and fill the schedule first.
  • Day Shifts:
    • Number of hospitalists per day shift – 4 (one doc carries pager for admits)
    • Number of mid-levels per day shift – 0
    • Average census – Ranges between 55-85 (16-18 patients per doctor)
    • Number of admits – varies (5-10)
    • Hours per shift – 12
    • Procedures not required during day shift
    • Intensivist is always on call during day shift
  • Night Shifts:
    • Number of hospitalists per night shift – 1
    • Number of mid-levels per night shift – 0
    • Average census – Ranges between 55-85
    • Number of admits (total touches on avg) – varies (5 – 10)
    • Hours per shift – 12
    • Procedures required during night shift
    • Intensivist is always on call during night shift
  • Swing Shifts:
    • Number of hospitalists per swing shift – May call in a swing if census goes above 80
    • Intensivist is always on call during swing shift
  • Sub-specialty back-up is available on call
  • Rapid response calls are not required
  • Running codes required
  • Hospitalists are not required to back up the ED. Facility has an open ICU but the expectation is that they will get an intensivist to consult on all patients.
