Job description

Corewell Health Pennock Hospital is seeking a full time Hospitalist to join their team of eight providers (3 physicians and 5 advanced practice providers) providing exceptional care for the hospitalized individuals and families in Hastings, MI. Located right along the Thornapple River, Hastings is a great community conveniently situated between Grand Rapids, Battle Creek, Kalamazoo, and Lansing.

Pennock Hospitalists work days with a staffing model of one physicians and one APP caring for an average total census of 18 to include up to 6 ICU beds. Nights are covered by a virtual nocturnist and an on-site APP. Some procedures and manage vents preferred; tela-ICU physician available for consults through state-of-the-art audio/visual equipment.

Essential Functions

  • Assesses and monitors the medical needs of patients/significant others.

  • Provides quality medical services to patients in a cost effective, appropriate manner and ensures coverage of case load at all times.

  • Provides input into the development of policies and procedures as they related to medical practice and quality patient care.

  • Provides oversight of Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners and others providing delegated services to patients.

  • Evaluates patients'/significant others'/staff educational needs and develops and implements appropriate teaching strategies or delegates to appropriate resources.

  • Documents in a manner consistent with regulatory standards.

  • Communicates with other members of the health care team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services. Acts as a patient/family advocate.

  • Participates in ongoing process improvement activities through the development/application of clinical paths, process improvement and other related activities.

Qualifications

  • License – Michigan MD/DO

  • BE/BC Internal Medicine Residency or Family Medicine Residency (with demonstrated strong inpatient experience)

  • Certification - Basic Life Support (BLS)

  • Certification - Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
