What skills and qualifications are needed for night operations?

To thrive as a Night Operations Manager, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and experience in logistics or warehouse operations, often supported by a high school diploma or relevant supervisory experience. Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS), inventory tracking software, and safety protocols is typically required. Leadership, effective communication, and problem-solving abilities help you manage teams and address issues efficiently during overnight shifts. These skills are crucial to ensure smooth, safe, and productive operations outside of regular business hours.

What is the difference between Night Operations vs Warehouse Associate?

Night Operations and Warehouse Associates both work in warehouse environments, often requiring safety certifications. Night Operations typically involves managing night shift activities, logistics, and coordination, while Warehouse Associates focus on physical tasks like picking and packing. Understanding these differences helps job seekers find roles aligned with their skills and preferences in the logistics industry.

What are night operations?

Night Operations refer to the tasks and processes carried out during nighttime hours to ensure a business runs smoothly outside of regular daytime schedules. This can include inventory management, stocking shelves, shipping and receiving goods, facility maintenance, and security checks. Night Operations staff are essential in industries like logistics, retail, hospitality, and healthcare, where 24/7 services or round-the-clock efficiency are required. Working in Night Operations often involves shift work and may require employees to adapt to non-traditional work hours.

What are common challenges in night operations and how can they be managed?

Working in Night Operations often presents unique challenges such as maintaining productivity during non-traditional hours, managing fatigue, and ensuring clear communication with day-shift teams. To address these, many organizations provide structured handover processes, encourage regular breaks, and offer training on effective time management and safety practices. Team members are typically supported by strong supervisory staff and may use collaboration tools to keep everyone aligned, which helps to create a cohesive work environment despite the unconventional hours.

Job description

Run the Floor. Lead the Team.

We're looking for an experienced shift manager to oversee night operations and provide coverage on weekend morning and lunch shifts as needed. As the manager on duty, you're responsible for the team, the building, and everything that happens on your shift. You'll work alongside other members of management to make sure each shift runs smoothly and meets Hardee's brand and STM Enterprises business standards.

This is not an entry-level role. We need someone who has led a team before, knows how a fast food or QSR operation runs, and can make calls under pressure without waiting to be told what to do. Competitive pay commensurate with experience.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

-Oversee all front-of-house and back-of-house operations during your assigned shift

-Lead and direct crew members to ensure fast, quality service and a clean restaurant

-Ensure Quality, Service, and Cleanliness standards meet or exceed Hardee's requirements

-Fill in on weekend morning and lunch shifts to support the management team as needed

-Handle guest concerns with professionalism and resolve issues on the spot

-Manage cash handling, safe counts, and end-of-shift reporting accurately

-Ensure all food safety, sanitation, and security policies are followed without exception

-Communicate shift issues, crew performance, and operational notes to the GM and ownership

-Step into any station as needed - you know the full operation
