Job description

Job Title: Machine Operator

Job Description

This role operates specialized slitting machines to cut plastic film into precise sizes and shapes according to customer orders. The Machine Operator sets up and adjusts equipment, performs changeovers, and handles cores and finished rolls while maintaining high quality standards, safety, and productivity on either a 2-2-3 night shift or 2-2-3 swing shift schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate slitting machines to cut plastic film into specified sizes and shapes based on customer orders.
  • Change out patterns and adjust machine settings to meet product specifications and production requirements.
  • Lift and load cores into the machine, ensuring proper alignment and secure placement.
  • Monitor the slitting process continuously to ensure quality, accuracy, and consistency of the finished product.
  • Roll slit plastic film onto rolls ranging from approximately 2 inches thick to 24 feet long.
  • Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on slitting machines to minimize downtime.
  • Carry out changeovers efficiently to support production schedules and product variation.
  • Label finished rolls accurately and prepare them for subsequent production or shipping processes.
  • Assist with assembly, stacking, and packaging of finished plastic film products as needed.
  • Enter production and quality data into computer systems with accuracy.
  • Follow established safety protocols and lockout/tagout procedures as required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including regular removal of scrap and debris.
  • Collaborate with production and extrusion teams to support overall plastics extrusion and food production operations.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding machine performance, quality issues, and process improvements.

Essential Skills
