Job description

Tennis Channel is looking for a talented, highly motivated individual with an appetite for tennis and a passion for data to work in our Santa Monica headquarters.  This highly visible Director role is vital for integrating research findings from across all Tennis Channel platforms (Tennis Channel linear, Tennis Channel International, Tennis Channel 2, Tennis Channel APP, Tennis Channel's digital and social properties and PickleballTV) to inform business decisions and drive viewing and innovation.

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and creative skills, a deep knowledge of syndicated research tools (including but not limited to Nielsen) and audience behaviors across linear, digital and social platforms, a spirit of partnership and strong organizations skills.  

This role is onsite in our Santa Monica, CA office.

In this role, you will:

  • Leverage ratings, analytics, research, and viewership data to create impactful cross-platform analyses.
  • Utilize syndicated and proprietary data to effectively analyze all aspects of Tennis Channel's non-linear viewing, including the Tennis Channel App, Tennis Channel 2/PBTV FAST, and Tennis Channel International's global audience, as well as deliver timely analyses of other lines of business, including digital and social.
  • Analyze and manipulate data to create tennis tournament presentations that deliver clear, compelling, and actionable insights, along with well-crafted recommendations that inform strategic decision-making across all Tennis Channel departments and external clients. Assess company goals and consult on strategies, providing analysis and tools to address needs using various research data.
  • Identify and deploy best practices in research strategy to improve business analysis and client solutions.
  • Provide insights on overall sports media trends, sports rights costs, and their impact on the network.
  • Respond to ad hoc and short-turnaround requests for data and metrics from across the organization, and proactively and disseminate insights.
  • Manage and develop the junior team in performing interpretive analyses that transform data into invaluable insights.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in television, communications or statistics
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in media research, with a focus on FAST, streaming and sports media/cable network research preferred
  • A strategic and analytical mindset capable of interpreting complex data and identifying market opportunities and threats
  • Expertise in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, as well as experience with data analysis (R and SQL) and data visualization (Tableau) tools preferred.  Nielsen data systems experience, including NPower
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure without sacrificing accuracy
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and work on a variety of different projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong leadership skills and a strong track record of working across all levels of an organization

The base salary compensation range for this role is $112,000 to $125,000. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidates' relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in a retirement plan, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, sick leave, vacation time, personal time, parental leave and employee stock purchase plan.
