Who is a Manufacturing Technician at SMT?

As a Manufacturing Technician, you will assist in the manufacturing of tracking technology and hardware from our Durham, NC manufacturing facility. This opportunity requires an exceptional attention to detail, comfortability operating specialized machinery, tools and equipment as well as working the production line.

What is Your Daily Impact at SMT?

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Executing assembly-type functions using hand and/or power tools and perform related duties
  • Performing simple machine maintenance and repairs
  • Maintaining the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition
  • Strictly adhering to prescribed safety regulations and wear proper safety attire to maintain a safe and accident-free workspace
  • Reading and understanding instruction manuals for operating equipment and machinery
  • Operating various pieces of equipment and machinery
  • Packaging completed items for shipping
  • Keeping records of materials and equipment

What Do You Bring to SMT?

  • 1-2 years’ experience in a manufacturing preferred but not required
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow documented processes and procedures
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work in fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • perform basic math computations and computer data entry
  • Ability to use measuring devices, hand tools, and power tools
  • Ability to lift 60 pounds, climb a ladder up to 15 feet high, and walk/stand throughout entire shift
  • Ability to repetitively:
    1. Pinch and grasp hand tools
    2. Twist, bend, and reach upward
    3. Handle small screws, washers, fasteners

This is full-time role, eligible for medical insurance plans and other benefits (Dental, Vision, PTO).

Are you seeking nights and weekends off? You’ll get it in this role! Your shift schedule will be Monday-Friday, and our production hours are from 8:30am-5:00pm with occasional overtime.
