Job description

Pro Football Retired Players Association (PFRPA) is seeking a dynamic and motivated communications coordinator to join our team. The intern will assist the Communications team with the administration of the PFRPA Communications Plan, with a focus on developing content for Gridiron Gaming. This individual will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of communication, including social media, content development, media relations and PR campaigns. In this role, the communications coordinator will serve as a resource to the organization; providing support in external communications initiatives; driving brand awareness; and performing day-to-day project management. This individual must be strategic, dependable, highly motivated and possess a strong work ethic. The ideal candidate will be able to exercise sound judgment and add value, while extending the organization’s goals and missions. This internship offers valuable insights into the field of communications and provides an ideal platform for professional growth and development.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support implementation of Association’s external communications strategy
  • Create original, engaging content for PFRPA and Gridiron Gaming social media channels
  • Assist in developing carefully curated social media posting schedules
  • Produce short-form and long-form video content, edited from organization’s video library, for future use on various platforms
  • Research industry trends and propose new ideas for Association’s communications content
  • Contribute to the Association’s website content development, including written blogs and supporting graphics
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or enrolled in a Master’s degree program, preferably with a concentration in communications, public relations, marketing and/or advertising
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, interacting effectively with individuals across various levels
  • Strong understanding of social media landscape and ability to develop compelling content using editing applications or programs
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills
  • Effective time management skills
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud
  • A strong knowledge or interest in gaming preferred

To date, more than 10,400 retired players and more than 3,700 retired players' spouses are eligible for PFRPA insurance benefits. The Football Greats Alliance, PFRPA's licensing agency, develops partnerships to drive meaningful revenue for retired NFL players and provides revenue to support the Greater Good Fund.
