JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY
The Newcomer ELD Teacher is responsible for providing English Language Development instruction to newcomer ELD students K -11. These students are in their first year in US schools and are at the NEP 1 proficiency language level.ย This role requires strong communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to support students in their language acquisition and academic progress.ย This will be an internal districtย posting with preference to current dedicated ELD teachers familiar with the current ELD program.
SUMMER SCHOOL POSITION DATESย
Important Dates:
- Approximatelyย 77 hours of total work between June 1ย - June 23
- Monday, June 1stย is Training and room set up day for teachers
- Location: Kearney Middle School

- Duty Time:ย 7:45am to 1:15pm
- Student Time:ย 8:00am -1:00pm
- Student Start Date:ย Tuesday, June 2
- Student End Date: Tuesday, June 23
- Mondays through Thursdays
- No School:ย Thursday,ย June 18 (Paid Holiday)
- Celebration of Learning for Students and Families:ย Tuesday, June 23rdย during summer school hours hosted at KMS
REQUIREMENTS
Education Level Details
Bachelor's degree in Education with an CLDE endorsementย
License / Certification Required
Must possess or qualify for a Colorado teaching certificate with a CLDEย endorsement
ELDย Teachers required to hold CLDE or appropriate credentials
Work Experience Required
at least One year teaching in A14 dedicated ELDย classroom experience preferred
Other Skills and Abilities Required
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to create engaging and inclusive learning environments.
Experience working with diverse student populations and addressing their unique needs.
Knowledgeable of state curriculum standards
CLDE and Bilingual Endorsementย
Regular attendance is essential

- Showcase the academic performance of students.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.

CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT AND ORGANIZATION
- Create classroom environments conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct / student handbook.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
COMMUNICATIONS
Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
PROFESSIONAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT
- Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
- Comply with the Colorado Department of Education, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.

- Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
- Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Summer Schoolย principal and the Superintendent of Schools.
