What are some common challenges faced when working as a viticulturist in a new vineyard?

One of the most frequent challenges for viticulturists in a new vineyard is establishing optimal soil health and vine management practices tailored to the specific site. New vineyards require attentive monitoring to identify and address issues such as pests, disease, irrigation needs, and nutrient deficiencies, which can be unpredictable in the first few years. Collaboration with enologists, farm workers, and agricultural consultants is essential to ensure the vineyard develops a strong foundation for future quality grape production. Adaptability and problem-solving skills are key as the unique characteristics of the land become better understood over time.
