Product Engineer โ€“ NPI

Position Summary

The Product Engineer within the NPI MPM Department at Wistron is an individual contributor responsible for supporting new product introduction (NPI) activities from concept through mass production readiness. This role focuses on product launch execution, technical coordination, documentation, and process compliance, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure successful product transition into manufacturing.

The position emphasizes technical execution, data analysis, project coordination, and continuous improvement, without direct people-management responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

Support new product introduction (NPI) activities by coordinating assigned tasks, schedules, and deliverables.

Work closely with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing, Quality, IE, PD, SQM, PSE, ATE, FAE, PMC, and MPM to support product launches.

Assist in the preparation, review, and maintenance of NPI documentation, including procedures, work instructions, and project records.

Track and follow up on customer-related NPI actions to ensure commitments are met.

Support implementation and adherence to NPI processes, quality systems, environmental, and safety requirements.

Participate in product qualification, BOM readiness, process validation, and manufacturing readiness reviews.

Monitor and report assigned NPI KPIs, escalating risks or issues as needed.

Support continuous improvement initiatives, including Kaizen activities, value engineering, and cost-reduction efforts.

Assist with customer and internal audits, data preparation, and corrective actions as required.

Communicate technical findings, progress updates, and risks clearly to project stakeholders.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

Experience

Minimum 3โ€“5 years of experience in an engineering role supporting:

o New Product Introduction (NPI) or product launch activities

o Manufacturing or operations environments

Experience with engineering documentation, process control, and KPI tracking preferred.

Technical & Professional Skills

Working knowledge of electronics manufacturing processes, PCBA/SMT concepts, and production workflows.

Familiarity with product lifecycle management (PLM) processes and manufacturing documentation.

Understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and cost-reduction principles.

Exposure to quality systems and industry standards, such as:

o Core Tools

o IATF / VDA

o ISO 9001:2015

o IMDS

Ability to apply structured problem-solving and root cause analysis methods.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Effective written and verbal communication skills in a cross-functional environment.

Preferred Certifications

Project Management fundamentals, Core Tools, or VDA (preferred but not required).

Risk Management or quality-related certifications are a plus.
