Shodeen Homes, L.L.C. a New Home builder in Illinois and Wisconsin is seeking a New Home Construction Manager

As a Construction Manager, you will oversee all construction activities from inception to move-in. This role requires regular, in-person attendance at community job sites and offices. You will be responsible for managing home construction from start to finish, ensuring adherence to project timelines, scopes of work, and quality standards while optimizing profitability.

Contractor Management

  • Supervise trade partners to ensure they adhere to project timelines and specific scopes of work.
  • Manage daily communications with trade partners, providing feedback to the Lead Construction Manager regarding their timeliness and attention to detail.
  • Manage and approve trade partner invoices and ensure accurate and timely payment processing.
  • Negotiate cost-effective solutions for issues raised by trade partners and inspectors.

Scheduling

  • Manage job sites and schedules to ensure strict compliance with project timelines.
  • Conduct and supervise essential project milestone handoffs, including pre-construction, pre-drywall, and final presentation meetings.
  • Coordinate daily notifications to ensure overall workflow efficiency.

Quality Control Management

  • Conduct twice-daily home walks to monitor progress and uphold high-quality standards.
  • Ensure all job sites meet State and Federal building codes, maintain safety logs, and conduct regular on-site safety meetings.
  • Perform and document Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) inspections as required by government guidelines.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Must be tech-savvy with proficiency in Microsoft Office and construction-specific software like Build Pro and Procore.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction practices, building codes, and the ability to read blueprints.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills for collaborating with internal teams like sales and customer service.

General Duties and Responsibilities

  • Approve change orders, purchase orders, and maintain accurate safety and SWPPP records.
  • Identify efficiencies and best practices to contribute to Continuous Improvement Processes (CIP).
  • Maintain job site cleanliness and safety to mitigate compliance risks and avoid potential violations.
  • Ability to work in confined quarters (construction trailers), climb ladders, and lift or carry equipment exceeding 50 pounds.

 

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; a college degree is preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in home building/construction or residential construction management.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record and valid auto insurance.
