Job description

Overview
The Network Support Technician (NST) provides quality on-site support to Heart Center and Cardiovascular Service Line for Huntsville Hospital users with a high degree of customer service, technical expertise and timeliness. The Network Support Technician provides support for installation, upgrades and maintenance of all hardware and software in the LAN and WAN environment. Performs preventative maintenance on all networked equipment. Troubleshoots and performs repairs when possible and coordinates vendor service as needed. In all instances, the Network Support Technician is the advocate for the user. The NST is also responsible for assisting with the coordination of IT support work orders and projects.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field from an accredited College or University preferred.
License: Valid drivers license and automobile insurance as per policy and the ability to travel to off-site locations. A+ Certification preferred, Microsoft Certified Windows Server Administrator or similar certification desired.
Experience: Extensive customer service experience required. Previous help desk experience preferred. Extensive experience with Windows 7/Windows 10 and MS Office products required. May consider job related experience in lieu of degree.
Additional Skills/Abilities: Ability to manage a stressful work environment related to changing priorities and critical support needs. Effectively handle prioritizing issues. Must possess positive customer service, advanced communication, and problem solving skills. Ability to analyze and coordinate multiple technologies and concepts effectively and create/design Visio drawings for workflows, network diagrams, and project plans. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work with minimum supervision exercising a high degree of discretion and independent judgement. Demonstrated ability to relate to all levels of the user community. Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2016 or greater. Good working knowledge of Local Area Network topologies and applications of the OSI Model. Good working knowledge of Active Directory services and domain topologies. Knowledge of installing, configuring and troubleshooting networked devices. Knowledge of installation/troubleshooting of remote access software and multifactor authentication. Additional knowledge of VMware and/or virtualization technologies and technologies desirable.
