Job description

  • Design, develop, maintain, and support multiple mission-critical cloud platform components that enable Ford's connected vehicle capabilities.

  • Own end-to-end delivery of software services powering critical customer experiences, as well as the platform infrastructure that supports them.

  • Act as a domain owner for critical services, proactively identifying and mitigating risks, leading root-cause analysis for high-severity incidents, and driving long-term reliability, observability, and performance improvements across the platform.

  • Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance for complex, distributed systems within the device connectivity platform, influencing design decisions, setting engineering standards, and ensuring solutions are scalable, resilient, and secure.

  • Mentor other engineers, contribute to technical reviews, knowledge sharing, and best practices, while partnering closely with product, operations, and cross-platform teams to align technical execution with business and regulatory priorities.

You'll have...

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical work experience
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience designing, building, and operating production-grade distributed microservices
  • 8+ years of experience with Java and Spring Boot development
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Kafka and real-time data streaming architectures
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, primarily AWS with openness/exposure to GCP
  • 3+ years of experience with API design and development (REST, gRPC, JSON, OpenAPI/Swagger)
  • 3+ years of experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and CI/CD pipelines (ArgoCD, Concourse, GitHub)
  • 3+ years of operational experience with monitoring, telemetry, and incident response tools (Grafana, Dynatrace, DataDog, OpenTelemetry, VictoriaMetrics, Prometheus, PagerDuty) including primary/secondary on-call rotations

  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or experience executing AWS-to-GCP cloud migrations

This position is leadership level 6 and ranges from $132,800-$250,800. California Candidates: This position is a leadership level 6 and ranges from $150,200-$283,500. 


Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
