Job description

Summary

Core Molding Technologies is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support our manufacturing operations through process improvement, equipment optimization, automation, and capital projects. This hands-on engineering role partners closely with Production, Maintenance, and Quality to improve safety, reliability, productivity, and cost performance while supporting new product launches and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and improve manufacturing equipment, tooling, and production processes using SolidWorks and CAD software
  • Develop engineering drawings, documentation, and technical specifications
  • Support capital projects including equipment purchases, upgrades, automation, and facility improvements
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing and equipment issues using root cause analysis and implement permanent corrective actions
  • Design, build, and test prototypes, fixtures, and experimental equipment
  • Provide day-to-day engineering support to Production and Maintenance teams
  • Improve equipment reliability, manufacturing efficiency, quality, and operating costs
  • Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, productivity, and waste reduction
  • Coordinate project schedules, budgets, risk management, and implementation activities
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, safety regulations, and applicable codes
  • Document engineering changes and communicate improvements across the organization

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related engineering discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • 5+ years of manufacturing or industrial engineering experience
  • Experience supporting production equipment, manufacturing processes, and plant operations
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of hydraulic systems and industrial equipment
  • Experience troubleshooting manufacturing processes and equipment failures
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation
  • Experience with automation, robotics, or material handling systems
  • Experience with pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical control systems
  • Exposure to compressors, chillers, cooling towers, or other industrial utilities
  • Project management experience
  • Knowledge of ergonomic assessments and industrial safety standards
