SUMMARY

BGIS ITS Canada Ltd., a division of BGIS, is looking for an experienced BAS Technician. The Building Automation System Technician is responsible for servicing and maintaining Building Automation Systems (BAS) in client facilities. Attend client sites to complete service and preventive maintenance tasks, program/download/install BAS-related hardware and software, create custom graphical user interfaces, and implement energy and operational optimization initiatives.

 

BAS  Tasks & Responsibilities 

  1. Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with clients and team members and ensure effective communication.
  2. Develop and implement project & service strategies in order to meet annual performance goals and objectives.
  3. Plan, develop, implement, mentor and lead appropriate field team members in support of the BAS Manager.
  4. Contribute to the interviewing/hiring of experienced individuals, as well as appropriate training and development.
  5. Contribute to the growth of the BAS service clientele.
  6. Support the delivery of construction project scope and service related deliverables.
  7. Programming and graphics of HVAC equipment via software and verify system performance. 
  8. Integrate building automation software with third-party systems via network connections and integration.
  9. Simulate sequences of operations to verify proper operating parameters of systems and their performance by using the necessary software.
  10. Test, inspect, and troubleshoot low-voltage power equipment and systems, network communications, peripherals, valves, actuators, relays, and sensors during commissioning. 
  11. Commission BAS systems, verify end-to-end and report/resolve anomalies.
  12. Provide commissioning verification checklists to the appropriate Project Manager throughout the commissioning process.
  13. Verify the installation and operation of electrical and electronic equipment and systems related to the BAS.
  14. Perform inspections, tests, adjustments, and evaluations of low voltage electronic components and assemblies in accordance with manufacturer specifications and tolerances.
  15. Strong understanding of HVAC equipment & mechanical components and how it is related to control strategies and theories.
  16. Utilize technical manuals and written instructions when deemed necessary to calibrate electrical and electronic equipment and instruments.
  17. Completes service reports and PM checklists on service call and preventative maintenance site visits.
  18. Provide assistance in preparing specifications and reports for related projects by collecting and compiling data when deemed appropriate by the Project or BAS Manager.
  19. Proven ability to effectively mentor and train employees.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Technician, diploma Technologist diploma or Engineering degree in a related technological field to BAS.
  2. Proven ability to self-learn, utilize and transfer to appropriate team members in an effort to enhance overall team awareness of existing and new technologies.
  3. Minimum of 7+ years related experience. 
  4. Certified in Tridium Niagara AX - N4.
  5. Strong understanding of HVAC equipment/mechanical components and how they relate to control strategies and theories. 
  6. Extensive knowledge and experience with BAS system installations.
  7. Extensive knowledge of multiple system integration strategies and applications.
  8. Extensive knowledge of network wiring standards and protocols.  
  9. Strong communication skills. 
  10. Strong interpersonal skills. 
  11. The ability to work effectively in a team-based environment. 
  12. Ability to work in a process driven environment.
  13. Superior time management and multi-tasking abilities. 

Top Salary Qualifications

  1. Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) designation.
  2. Networking certification.
  3. Certified in multiple Manufacturer Programming Software Tools.

This is a regular, full-time position with a salary range of $63,397 - $79,246 per annum. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate's competencies, including but not limited to experience, education and performance related to this role.
