Familiarity with neonatal monitoring equipment, electronic health records (EHRs), and certifications like Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) are typically required. It’s important to seek out mentorship from experienced NICU nurses, actively participate in unit orientation programs, and take advantage of continuing education opportunities. Building strong relationships with your interdisciplinary team and asking questions when needed can also help ease the transition and build confidence.
