Position Summary
The Department of Neurosurgery in the Jacobs School is actively recruiting for a Laboratory Technician. This individual will work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) in the cerebrovascular lab.
Job duties include:
  • conducting experiments under supervision of the PI (animal care and surgeries)
  • writing and revising IACUC and IRB protocols
  • ordering lab supplies and maintaining the daily functions of the lab
  • assist undergraduate, graduate and medical students in their research (qPCR, RNA-sequencing, cell culture)

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience, Biology, Biochemistry, or related field.
  • Minimally one year of experience directly related to animal care and surgeries including basic knowledge of the general physical characteristics and behaviors of animals used in an assignment and an ability to observe changes in animal behavior. Able to maintain records of an animal's condition. Ability to handle rodents properly and safely.
  • Minimally one year of experience with cerebrovascular research.
  • Laboratory experience in qPCR, cell culture and histology.
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
