Job description

Department: MED-Preventive Medicine
Salary/Grade: NEX/11
Target hiring range for this position will be between $21.00 - $21.50 per hour. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
Job Summary:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to conducting follow-up phone calls with study participants, scheduling and administering participant visits, collecting study data and medical records, and clearly explaining study procedures. The role also involves responding to participant questions, escalating concerns when needed, performing study visits, and completing all protocol-required study components.
Please note: Supervisor provides objectives, deadlines and specific instructions only for new, difficult, and/or unusual work. Work is reviewed upon completion and only occasionally to verify technical accuracy and compliance with practice, policy, and procedures. EE informs supervisor of on-going progress and/or potentially controversial matters.
Specific Responsibilities:
Technical
  • Participate in the planning & conduct of research study including participant recruitment and retention.
  • Conduct outbound phone calls to study participants for follow-up, scheduling study visits, and data collection
  • Update participants contact information and follow-up status
  • Respond to participant questions and route concerns to appropriate study staff
  • Document all outreach attempts (calls, voicemails, emails, letters) in tracking systems
  • Prepare and manage study materials related to participant contact
  • Obtains informed consent.
  • Administers tests &/or questionnaires following protocols.
  • Completes basic clinical procedures such as drawing blood & obtaining blood pressure.
  • Participate in study visits such as anthropometric measurements (e.g., height, weight, waist/hip circumference, blood pressure) and other study related assessments according to the protocol.
  • Processes payments such as study visit and travel for research participants per study protocol.
  • Processes invoices &/or purchase requisitions.
  • Collects medical records from external entities.
  • Extracts, sort & organize data from medical charts.
  • Work closely with other study coordinators and research team to meet follow-up goals
  • Acts as a mentor in regard to training new study staff.
  • Participate in study meetings.
  • Performs physical function assessment.
Administration
  • Manages study databases which may include ensuring that data is collected & entered correctly.
  • Creates & maintains study manuals regarding operating, safety, and etc. procedures.
  • Ensures that all study documents associated with current local, state, & federal regulatory guidelines, requirements, laws & research protocols are completed in a timely manner.
Finance
  • May process payments for research participants per study protocol.
  • Monitors & distribute petty cash.
Supervision
  • Trains, directs, assigns duties to & may supervise research staff, students, residents &/or fellows.
  • Acts as a mentor in regard to education of junior coordinators.
Miscellaneous
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: (Education, experience, and any other certifications or clearances)
  • Bachelor's degree in public health, biology, psychology, or a related field
  • Prior experience in clinical research or healthcare setting preferred
  • Basic computer proficiency, including experience with data entry and electronic data systems (e.g., REDCap or similar)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite
