Job Description
Summary: The ideal candidate will play a critical role in supporting neurosurgeons by accurately documenting patient encounters, procedures, and clinical notes, ensuring the highest standards of medical record-keeping and patient care.
This position is primarily based in neurosurgery clinics located in Vestal NY. The Medical Scribe will work closely with neurosurgeons, advanced practitioners, and other members of the care team to ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient care.
Experience/ Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required, Associated degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a medical scribe required
  • Proficiency in EMR systems and medical documentation practices.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Certification with ACMSS or AAPC, Medical terminology preferred

Essential Functions:
  • Essential Functions Document patient visits and procedures in real time during outpatient visits.
  • Transcribe physician-patient interactions, physical exams, and treatment plans in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Assist neurosurgeons and care teams in maintaining comprehensive, accurate, and up-to-date patient charts.
  • Review and edit medical documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate with clinical care team to obtain and verify patient information, imaging results, laboratory data, and any other relevant data.
  • Ensure timely completion of documentation to facilitate billing, coding, and continuity of care.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and institutional policies.
  • Support neurosurgery team with administrative tasks as needed.
