Interns typically work in laboratories or research settings, assisting with experiments, data analysis, and sometimes patient studies related to the nervous system. These internships provide valuable hands-on experience, mentorship from professionals, and a deeper understanding of how neurobiological research is conducted. They are often pursued by students interested in neuroscience, biology, psychology, or related medical fields.

Interns often help with data collection and analysis, lab maintenance, and may have opportunities to learn specialized techniques like electrophysiology or imaging. Collaboration with graduate students, postdocs, and principal investigators is common, providing valuable exposure to interdisciplinary teamwork and mentorship. This experience can help you develop practical lab skills and clarify your interests within the field, laying a solid foundation for future academic or industry roles.
