Network Engineer
Hybrid in Tyler, TX or Portneuf, ID
6-Month contract-to-hire
$70/hr
Position Overview:
The Network Engineer will be responsible for supporting, configuring, and troubleshooting enterprise network infrastructure across local area and wide area environments. This role works closely with internal teams to ensure reliable, secure, and scalable network operations while supporting deployments, changes, and incident response activities.
Responsibilities:
• Troubleshoot local area network and wide area network service issues across Cisco, Meraki, and Fortinet platforms
• Configure switching platforms including Cisco 3750x, 9200, and 9300 series, Cisco Nexus, and FortiSwitch
• Configure routing platforms including Cisco ASR and ISR, FortiGate, and Meraki
• Install network hardware and supporting infrastructure
• Activate and support leased wide area network circuits
• Participate in daily team meetings and project related meetings
• Create and maintain network documentation
• Create and review change scripts and implementation plans
• Partner with security teams to mitigate active network threats
• Travel up to 20 percent annually to support deployments as required
Qualifications:
• Associate degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent technical training
• Active Cisco Certified Network Associate certification preferred. Recently expired certification or equivalent hands on networking experience is acceptable
• Minimum of five years of experience working in Information Systems, preferably in healthcare environments
• Minimum of three years of practical networking experience supporting Cisco based projects
• Experience troubleshooting and configuring local area network infrastructures including Spanning Tree Protocol, EtherChannel or Port Channel configurations, Dot1Q trunking, Virtual LAN Trunking Protocol, 802.1x, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, and Downloadable Access Control Lists
• Experience troubleshooting wide area network infrastructures including Virtual Routing and Forwarding, routing protocols, IP access control lists, and leased circuits
• Experience troubleshooting Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting and TACACS plus
• Experience designing IP addressing schemes
• Experience troubleshooting client and network connectivity issues
• Experience configuring Simple Network Management Protocol monitoring and logging
