Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential -

  • Maintain Server Infrastructure: Collaborate with ITS Team Leads to deploy, configure, maintain, patch, and secure server systems to ensure reliability, performance, and security. Technologies include, but are not limited to, Microsoft Server, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager, Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft DNS, and DHCP.
  • Manage Active Directory: Create and manage user accounts, security groups, and Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to maintain a secure and efficient network.
  • System Monitoring: Regularly monitor system performance and use monitoring tools (PRTG) to track system health and respond to alerts and incidents promptly.
  • Backup & Disaster Recovery: Assist with daily backups, restores, and maintain disaster recovery readiness.
  • Build Software Deployments: Package and deploy software applications across the organization using Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager or similar technology.
  • Build Disk Images: Create and maintain disk images for deployment to various hardware configurations.
  • Cloud Services & Hybrid Identity: Support Microsoft 365, Entra ID (Azure AD), and hybrid identity or messaging systems as used by the college.
  • Networking Fundamentals: Apply basic networking knowledge (IP, VLANs, routing, switching) when supporting server and system operations.
  • Work with Support Team on Escalated Troubleshooting: Collaborate with the Support team to resolve complex client, server, and system issues, providing escalation support to minimize disruption to end-users.
  • After-Hours Expectations: Provide after-hours support for maintenance or critical system incidents as needed.
  • Comply with HutchCC policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.

Secondary -

  • Document Processes and Procedures: Create and maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Assist with Security Audits and Compliance: Assist the CSOC with security audits.
  • Conduct Training and Knowledge Transfer: Train and mentor junior staff and end-users on systems and software as needed.
  • Manage Legacy Environment: Assist in troubleshooting, occasionally reverse engineering, and phasing out a legacy environment.
  • Other Responsibilities: Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Infrastructure Team Lead or Executive Director of ITS.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's degree or Certificate (or higher) preferred.
  • Proven ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with a variety of people.
  • Student (mission/purpose) focused.
  • Ability to defuse conflict; turning negatives into positives.
  • Strong technical aptitude.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft PowerShell required (mastery preferred).
  • Experience with cybersecurity and information protection.
  • Physical requirements: This position will involve regular lifting a variable weight amount; and the ability to bend, stoop, lift, stand, reach, climb, push, pull and carry; the ability to understand words and respond effectively and appropriately; visual acuity to view a computer terminal; use appropriate judgment and to apply tact and courtesy in difficult situations; moderate to heavy indoor work environment.

HOURLY WAGE and STATUS:

The hourly rate of pay is expected to be between $28 and $32 and is commensurate with qualifications as determined by HutchCC administration. This full-time support staff position is 12 month annual, benefit eligible, at-will, and nonexempt. This position will be located at the HutchCC Main Campus location with possible travel to remote sites.
