Job description

Network Administrator

This position will provide daily operational support for network infrastructure, monitoring tools, server systems, and cybersecurity compliance activities.  This position requires a strong understanding of DoD network environments, switch maintenance, network monitoring platforms, vulnerability remediation, and technical documentation supporting network performance, availability, configuration management, and security compliance across enterprise systems.

Pay Rate: $36.05 - $39.42 per hour during the initial six-month term. $75K - $82K upon conversion. 

Work Location: On-site in Arlington, VA, Monday - Friday, 6 am - 2:30 pm; on call and outage response based upon the needs and direction of the customer.

Basic Required Qualifications and Skills: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At start date, must possess an IAT level II certification in ACTIVE status.
    • DoD 8570/8140 compliant certification as required by the contract
  • Experience with:
    • Supporting DoD or federal network environments.
    • Using Forescout for network visibility, device identification, or access control support.
    • Updating and maintaining network switches.
    • SolarWinds network monitoring and alert review.
    • DISA STIGs for network devices and Windows servers.
      • Supporting STIG implementation, validation, remediation, and documentation.
  • Knowledge of:
    • Cisco DNA Center/DNAC.
    • Cisco switching, VLANs, trunking, port security, routing basics, and network troubleshooting.
    • Cybersecurity compliance, vulnerability remediation, and DoD security requirements.
  • Ability to create and read technical documentation, network diagrams, and switch configurations
  • Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • All applicants must have current DoD Secret clearance day one and prior to entry on duty, with the ability to pass an Tier 5 background investigation to up-scope their clearance to Top Secret.  

Desired Qualifications and Skills: It is desirable that the candidate have the following qualifications:

  • Top Secret/SCI clearance.
  • Experience with
    • Cisco switches, routers, and enterprise network infrastructure.
    • Supporting SIPR/NIPR or similar DoD network environments.
    • Change management and incident response processes.
    • Creating technical reports, outage summaries, and network status updates.
    • Windows Server administration, patching, updates, and basic troubleshooting.
    • ACAS/Tenable, SCAP, eMASS, STIG Viewer, or vulnerability management tools.
    • Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and Windows Server security settings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: This position will include, but is not limited to, the following tasks:

 

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and support enterprise network infrastructure within a DoD environment.
  • Use SolarWinds to monitor network health, identify outages, review alerts, validate device status, and support network performance reporting.
  • Support Cisco DNA Center/DNAC for network visibility, device management, troubleshooting, assurance, and operational monitoring.
  • Use Forescout to support device visibility, endpoint identification, access control awareness, and network asset tracking.
  • Update, configure, and maintain network switches, including firmware, IOS/software updates, configuration backups, and operational validation.
  • Perform troubleshooting for network connectivity, VLANs, switch ports, routing issues, device reachability, and network performance problems.
  • Support STIG compliance activities for network switches and Windows servers.
  • Apply security hardening requirements in accordance with DoD STIGs, cybersecurity policies, and operational guidance.
  • Maintain and update Windows servers, including patching, vulnerability remediation, security configuration, and system validation.
  • Assist with vulnerability management, remediation tracking, scan review, and technical corrective actions.
  • Document network changes, troubleshooting actions, system updates, and compliance activities.
  • Support change management processes and ensure all updates are properly coordinated and approved.
  • Work with network engineers, system administrators, cybersecurity personnel, ISSOs/ISSMs, and government stakeholders.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate network diagrams, asset inventories, and technical records.
  • Respond to network outages, alerts, performance issues, and operational incidents as required.
