Job Description

Short Description:

Network/Telco Specialists required to assist in the installation of structured data & voice cabling, network jacks, fiber optic cabling and network equipment configuration.

Complete Description:

Contract position for installation of structured data cabling, network infrastructure and LAN switching configuration associated with DOT and DMV Driver License office Facilities Access Control System project. DOT IT has several projects that will be underway at the same time and the additional contract resource will be needed to keep up with the demand of projects, outages and daily help desk ticket work.

Description (including, but not limited to):

1. Installation of cable, wiring, wireless AP's for voice and data interfaces and systems with communications functions.

2. Termination and testing of Cat 5/6 network cabling as well as fiber optic cabling.

3. Responsible for installation of network switches and related network equipment.

4. Knowledge of troubleshooting techniques related to structured cabling.

5. Must have excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and have the ability to communicate with all levels of staff and management.

Qualifications

Preferred:

1. Knowledge of Local Area Networks (LANs)/Wide Area Networks (WANs), TCP/IP, and/or server/network infrastructure.

2. Responsible for configuration and troubleshooting of network switches.

3. Ability to perform site surveys on campus sites for new network installations.

4. Design and maintenance of both the hardware and software necessary for a computer network infrastructure installation.
