Job description

Position Overview
Our client is seeking a Network Security Engineer to support enterprise network segmentation and security initiatives across a complex technology environment. This individual will work closely with network, infrastructure, cloud, and cybersecurity teams to help identify network traffic flows, support segmentation efforts, and implement security controls designed to reduce organizational risk.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in networking principles, experience working with firewalls and access controls, and an interest in helping improve network security through segmentation and least-privilege access practices.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with network segmentation projects across corporate, server, cloud, OT/IoT, and remote access environments.
  • Help identify and document network assets, applications, users, and traffic flows.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of security zones and network segmentation policies.
  • Assist with the implementation of least-privilege access controls between network segments.
  • Review firewall rules, ACLs, and network access policies to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support testing, validation, and troubleshooting activities related to segmentation initiatives.
  • Work with infrastructure, networking, cloud, and security teams to ensure network security requirements are met.
  • Create and maintain network diagrams, traffic flow documentation, and implementation documentation.
  • Participate in change management activities related to network security and segmentation efforts.
  • Assist with identifying and resolving network connectivity and security issues.
  • Communicate effectively with technical teams and business stakeholders to support project objectives.

Required Qualifications
  • 2-5 years of experience in network engineering, network security, cybersecurity, or a related technical role.
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs, and DNS.
  • Experience working with enterprise firewalls, access control lists (ACLs), and network security policies.
  • Familiarity with network segmentation concepts and least-privilege access principles.
  • Basic understanding of cloud networking concepts within Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience documenting network configurations, diagrams, and technical procedures.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple technical teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Exposure to network security frameworks such as NIST, CIS Controls, or Zero Trust Architecture.
  • Experience with network monitoring, packet analysis, or traffic flow analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with security technologies such as IDS/IPS, NAC, SIEM, or micro-segmentation platforms.
