We are currently seeking a Network Engineer III to support secure network engineering operations within a Department of Defense test, integration, and evaluation environment. This position is responsible for configuring, maintaining, troubleshooting, and assessing network infrastructure supporting mission, lab, and engineering activities across complex environments. The role requires strong network engineering fundamentals, sound troubleshooting judgment, and the ability to support routed, switched, segmented, and secure network environments. Experience with CANES, Agile Core Services, Navy Program of Record systems, or DoD lab and fleet environments is highly desired. The selected candidate will support CANES sustainment, troubleshooting, integration, modernization, and added capability efforts while working with cybersecurity, systems administration, engineering, and leadership teams to maintain operational continuity and support mission objectives.
Responsibilities
- Configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and assess routed and switched network infrastructure supporting DoD lab, test, integration, and operational environments
- Support network operations across complex mission environments, including routing, switching, VLANs, segmentation, secure enclave connectivity, and system-to-system network interfaces
- Support CANES sustainment, troubleshooting, integration, technical refresh, modernization, and operational readiness efforts as required
- Assist with the integration, testing, validation, and fielding of new network capabilities, added functionality, and system changes within existing environments
- Troubleshoot network outages, degraded performance, connectivity issues, configuration errors, and cross-system communication problems using a methodical fault-isolation approach
- Analyze technical issues, determine root cause and operational impact, and implement corrective actions to maintain operational continuity and mission support
- Support secure network boundary, access control, and transport technologies, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, encryption devices, and related secure communications controls
- Coordinate with cybersecurity, systems administration, engineering, and operations teams to support mission requirements, compliance activities, vulnerability remediation, and system readiness
- Support network infrastructure that interfaces with virtualization, server, storage, and operating system platforms, including VMware, ESXi, vCenter, Hyper-V, Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and similar technologies as applicable
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, implementation details, interface documentation, troubleshooting guides, and engineering support records
- Participate in technical interchange meetings, engineering discussions, planning sessions, and customer meetings to provide network engineering input and support decision-making
