Market Engineer II

The Market Engineer II role is to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the inhouse information systems that support core organizational functions. This is achieved by monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all networked software and associated operating systems. This Senior Engineer will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments. This individual will also mentor and provide guidance to the Market Engineer staff.

Market Engineer Responsibilities include:

  • Provide specialized technical problem solving and problem resolution skills.
  • Plan, schedule and load new versions of the Host Platform operating system and related vendor patches or temporary fixes as defined in the Product Support Agreement.
  • Provide first- or second-level problem determination/ isolation and recovery support for Host Platform computer systems.
  • Ensures established enterprise standards are followed and enforced during system implementations.
  • Identify Information Security Threat and Vulnerability Management

We are looking for a Systems Engineer to help build out, maintain, and troubleshoot our rapidly expanding infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have experience in the realms of network engineering, server management as well as technical project management.

What does a Market Engineer do?

You will be part of a talented team of engineers that demonstrate superb technical competency, delivering mission critical infrastructure and ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance and security. Qualified systems engineers will have a background in IT, computer systems engineering, or systems engineering and analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with network staff to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software and systems for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
  • Work with management team, decision makers, and stakeholders to define business requirements and systems goals, and to identify and resolve business systems issues
  • Design and deploy new applications and enhancements to existing applications, software, and operating systems
  • Perform cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems to aid management in making implementation decisions via Caesar's IDEA process.
  • Conduct research on software and systems products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts
  • Gauge the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems; develop and implement strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
  • Design and perform server and security audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with the company's disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
  • Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes
  • Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies
  • Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks
  • Participate in the design of information and operational support systems
  • Provide 2nd and 3rd level support
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
  • Plan and coordinate project schedules, goals and milestones and make project assignments.
  • Create technical documentation as needed and report on progress of project.
  • Drive reliable and best practice technical solutions to complex problems 
  • Monitors and prepares reports to ensure work is progressing to meet the deliverables on time 
  • Performing disaster recovery operations and data backups when required.
  • Support and/or lead workstreams on engagements related but not limited to application security testing and remediation, infrastructure scanning and remediating results, triaging reducing false positives, and coordination of addressing scanning and testing results.
  • Adhere to Gaming Control Board standards.

Requirements

  • Proven working experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting UNIX /Linux based environments.
  • Proven experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software systems, applications, and related products.
  • Excellent understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Advanced project management skills.
  • Familiarity with incident handling techniques and processes desired
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written skills
  • Familiarization with Casino Technologies
  • Experience with virtualization and containerization (e.g., VMware, Virtual Box)
  • Experience with monitoring systems
  • Experience with automation software (e.g., Puppet, cfengine, Chef)
  • Solid scripting skills (e.g., shell scripts, Perl, Ruby, Python)
  • Solid networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP)
  • CCNP, JNCIP, MCSA, and PMP (preferred but not required)
