Job Summary:
Henry Street Settlement is seeking a hands-on IT Infrastructure Experience Administrator to oversee and modernize the infrastructure systems that support more than 50 programs across the organization. This role reports to the Director of Information & Technology and is responsible for the administration, monitoring, and continuous improvement of Henry Street’s infrastructure environment, including servers, virtualization platforms, network services, wireless connectivity, and technical vendor coordination. This position requires someone who can independently troubleshoot complex issues, proactively identify opportunities for improvement, manage technical changes responsibly, and maintain accurate documentation to ensure reliable and secure operations. The ideal candidate enjoys solving operational problems, bringing order to complex environments, and partnering with colleagues to deliver a seamless technology experience.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain VMware and Azure Cloud server infrastructure supporting Henry Street business applications and organizational services.
  • Administer and maintain Henry Streets enterprise multi-site network infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, wireless networks, and supporting connectivity services.
  • Administer and maintain core infrastructure services, including DNS, DHCP, and related network services.
  • Monitor infrastructure systems, performance, capacity, and operational alerts to proactively identify and remediate issues.
  • Lead and participate in technology deployments, upgrades, infrastructure modernization initiatives, and lifecycle management activities.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and escalation support for infrastructure, network, and enterprise technology issues.
  • Maintain foundational knowledge of Microsoft 365, endpoint management, identity systems, and enterprise applications to support business continuity and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Author, maintain, and continuously improve technical documentation, diagrams, runbooks, and standard operating procedures supporting Henry Street Infrastructure services.
  • Manage network and infrastructure maintenance & cabling activities with vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate infrastructure projects, maintenance activities, cabling initiatives, and technical vendor engagements with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Participate in disaster recovery, backup validation, and business continuity planning activities.
  • Execute change management activities, including planning, communication, risk assessment, validation, and documentation of infrastructure changes.
  • Communicate infrastructure risks, outages, vulnerabilities, and service interruptions to IT leadership in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with IT team members on organizational projects, process improvements, and technology initiatives.
  • Maintain infrastructure spaces, including server rooms, network closets, and equipment racks, ensuring they remain organized, secure, and operational.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Information & Technology.

Essential Physical Job Functions:

  • Maintain physical ability and stamina to perform position tasks.
  • Ability to walk up a six-story walk-up building as needed.
  • Sit or stand for prolonged periods; walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, twist, climb, and lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Withstand exposure to noise, vibration, cool temperatures, and electrical equipment.
  • Ability to work onsite in the Lower East Side.

Requirements

  • Associate degree Required in IT Related Field or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of infrastructure, network, and systems administration experience.
  • Experience supporting VMware & Azure environments.
  • Experience supporting wired and wireless enterprise network environments.
  • Experience troubleshooting DNS, DHCP, and network connectivity issues.
  • Experience working with vendors and managed service providers.
  • Strong communication, customer service, documentation and organizational skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to independently manage assigned work and priorities.
  • Obtain at least one Industry Standard Certification (Microsoft, CompTIA, ITIL) within 1 year of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT Related field.
  • Experience with Fortinet environments.
  • Experience supporting Dell infrastructure.
  • Experience with infrastructure monitoring platforms.
  • Experience with backup and recovery solutions.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Entra ID and Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Experience working in nonprofit, education, healthcare, or multi-site organizations.
  • Active Microsoft, VMware, Fortinet, or networking certifications preferred.
