Typical duties include evaluating new technologies, installing new software and hardware, analyzing the performance of networks, and providing troubleshooting assistance. An essential part of the job is monitoring network security, spotting security flaws before they are manipulated, and staying current with the latest industry technologies. The job requires experience with large computer networks as well as data communication systems.

What does a network architect do?

A network architect designs, plans, and implements computer networks for organizations, ensuring they meet performance, security, and scalability requirements. They analyze business needs, select appropriate hardware and software, and create network diagrams, often using tools like Cisco or Juniper. Certification such as CCNP or CISSP can enhance their expertise, and they typically work in office environments with project deadlines.

Are network architects paid hourly or salary?

To thrive as a Network Architect, you need a deep understanding of network design, protocols, and security principles, typically supported by a degree in computer science or information technology. Familiarity with network hardware, cloud platforms, and certifications such as Cisco CCNA/CCNP or CompTIA Network+ is highly valued.
