The Network Administrator reports to the IT Manager and works closely with the network systems manager.  This person will assist the network manager with the day-to-day network operations and health of the network. 


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs any functions necessary, within the scope of authority and expertise, to provide the highest level of service and responsiveness to customers.

  • Assist in the diagnosis and troubleshooting of LAN/WAN issues with the network systems manager.
  • Perform server application upgrades for the business lines.
  • Maintain service packs and patches for any specialized server applications.
  • Perform monthly patching of all Windows servers and network equipment in accordance with BankNewport’s patching standards.
  • Configure and deploy network switches and access points when needed.
  • Review and reconcile PC, server, and network equipment inventory working with the network manager and the helpdesk.
  • Assist with vulnerability tracking and management, including end of life software on PCs, network equipment, and servers; working with the helpdesk and the network manager.
  • Run and interpret Rapid7 scans
  • Responds to monitoring tickets from 3rd party security monitoring vendors
  • Responsible for monitoring and maintaining daily system backups. Ensures that all servers are backed up according to the defined schedule and can be restored if needed.
  • Management of Active Directory/Intune including Group Policies, maintenance, and administration functions.
  • Act as an escalation point and provide 3rd tier support to the helpdesk.
  • Ensures the Bank’s adherence to regulatory and compliance regulations as they pertain to systems, patch management, data integrity/storage, and business continuity.
  • Assists in the maintenance of IT and Vendor risk assessments, procedures, and BCP testing and documentation.
  • Keeps abreast of technology developments and assesses new opportunities for the bank. Researches equipment, software, and services and makes purchasing recommendations to the VP of IT.  Maintains active contact with various technology vendors and service providers.
  • Splits on call duties with network manager on nights and weekends
  • Is available for after-hours projects and support.
  • All other duties as specified.

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent field experience. (3-5 years)
  • Solid working knowledge of networking core concepts (DHCP, DNS, routing, IP addressing), Cisco, and Extreme.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server Operating systems, Active Directory and VMware
  • Strong working knowledge of vulnerability management, patching, and cybersecurity concepts.
  • Strong customer service focus, excellent troubleshooting skills, along with good written and verbal communication skills.
  • M365 cloud experience highly preferred.

INDEPENDENT ACTION

Establishes own work plan and performs work independently within scope of established guidelines and practices. Generally contacts vendors for network software, communications, or hardware support and forwards any and all major problems to the VP/IT or Network Systems Manager where additional expertise and clarification of policies and procedures is needed.
