The Supply Chain Engineer - New Product Introduction (NPI), is responsible for managing the procurement, supplier coordination, and material planning for new product introduction in the distribution and power quality solutions industry. This role ensures the seamless integration of new products into the supply chain by collaborating with engineering, R&D, suppliers, and manufacturing teams. The ideal candidate will have experience in power distribution, electrical infrastructure, UPS systems, surge protection, and energy storage solutions, and will play a key role in ensuring supplier readiness, cost control, and risk mitigation during the NPI process.


Core Responsibilities

  • Source and procure materials, components, and equipment required for power distribution, electrical infrastructure, and power quality solutions to support NPI initiatives.
  • Identify, qualify, and onboard new suppliers that align with NPI requirements while ensuring competitive pricing and supply stability.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and lead times with suppliers for prototype and production phases.
  • Support early supplier involvement (ESI) in product development to ensure manufacturability, cost efficiency, and scalability.
  • Develop sourcing strategies for electrical components, power control systems, and backup power solutions used in industrial and commercial applications.
  • Act as a key liaison between engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to ensure smooth transition from NPI to mass production.
  • Implement best practices in supply chain management, procurement, and supplier qualification for power quality and distribution solutions.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in supply chain, procurement, or sourcing within the power distribution, electrical infrastructure, or energy solutions industry.
  • Strong understanding of power quality and distribution components, including UPS systems, surge protection devices, switchgear, transformers, and backup power solutions.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or equivalent) and procurement best practices.
  • Proven ability to manage supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, and execute sourcing strategies.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance (UL, CE, RoHS, REACH, IEEE) for electrical components and energy solutions.
  • Project management experience in supporting new product launches in a manufacturing environment

Compensation

The anticipated starting salary range for this role is 75,000-95,000 per year. Actual salary varies due to factors that may include but not limited to relevant experience, skills, certifications and location. This hire will be eligible for a discretionary bonus or incentive compensation. Variable compensation may depend on various factors, such as individual and organizational performance.
