What Is a NetSuite Developer?

A NetSuite developer creates and implements NetSuite software for business management solutions. As a NetSuite developer, your main duties involve reviewing your organization’s current systems, planning and executing new strategies, providing front-line support, communicating with vendors, and ensuring the success of all NetSuite applications. To pursue a career as a NetSuite developer, you usually need at least a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Additional qualifications include an understanding of standard business practices, experience using NetSuite tools and similar products, and strong problem-solving skills. Voluntary certification is also available to demonstrate your competence as a NetSuite professional.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a NetSuite Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a NetSuite Developer, you need strong programming skills in SuiteScript (JavaScript), a solid understanding of ERP concepts, and experience with NetSuite administration, typically supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with NetSuite tools such as SuiteTalk (Web Services), SuiteFlow (workflow automation), SuiteBuilder, and relevant NetSuite certifications is highly beneficial. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills set standout developers apart when collaborating with cross-functional teams and translating business requirements into technical solutions. These skills ensure effective customization, integration, and optimization of NetSuite platforms to meet organizational needs.

What are some common challenges faced by Netsuite Developers when customizing modules for different business needs?

Netsuite Developers often encounter challenges when tailoring modules to fit unique business processes, particularly in balancing customization with system performance and maintainability. They must ensure that scripts, workflows, and integrations align with best practices to avoid conflicts during system upgrades or changes. Collaboration with business analysts and end-users is essential to accurately translate requirements into scalable solutions, while also managing expectations about what is feasible within the Netsuite platform. Staying updated with new features and limitations is also crucial to deliver effective and future-proof customizations.

We are Dulcedo
At Dulcedo, talent management is not about volume - it's about strategy, structure, and long-term vision. We are a full-service talent management agency specializing in the representation of creators, influencers, athletes, models, and entertainment talent across North America and internationally. Our mission is to build scalable, sustainable careers for our talent while delivering white-glove service to the brands and partners who collaborate with them. We believe in strong systems, thoughtful recruitment, and intentional growth, not short-term wins or reactive hiring.

Dulcedo is the largest multidisciplinary talent management group in Canada and a recognized leader across the US and North American markets. We manage the global careers of 500+ models, hundreds of Olympic and professional athletes, and a growing roster of top-tier digital creators, influencers, and streamers. At the core of Dulcedo's values and recruitment process is a strong commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Our current workforce is a celebration of diverse ethnic backgrounds, races, gender identities, sexual orientations, abilities, and lived experiences. Our continued mission is to recruit, support, and grow talent in a way that ensures equal opportunities for all applicants.

Above all, Dulcedo is a people-first organization. Our team is made up of ambitious, collaborative, and high-performing individuals who care deeply about culture, integrity, and impact. Proudly certified as a Great Place to Work, we foster an environment where people are empowered to grow, challenge themselves, and do meaningful work alongside industry-leading talent.

The Opportunity: We're hiring a Senior NetSuite Developer to bring NetSuite development in-house and build a faster, smarter, more scalable finance engine - without relying on outsourced support for everyday improvements. You'll partner closely with Accounting to turn real operational needs into high-impact workflows, automations, and reporting that make the business run cleaner and faster, with strong documentation and governance behind every release. You'll own the NetSuite "build" capability end-to-end: understanding what's customized, what's fragile, and where the biggest wins are. In other terms, we're looking for a builder who can spot opportunities, propose better ways of working, and help set a sustainable operating rhythm (intake build UAT release documentation) that scales with the company.
Your Role
  • Own and stabilize our NetSuite environment: understand existing customizations, scripts, workflows, roles/permissions, reporting, and integrations.
  • Map and document "as-is" processes and identify quick wins, risks, and tech debt impacting Accounting operations.
  • Partner with Accounting to map end-to-end processes (current future state), including controls, decision points, and ownership.
  • Design, build, and maintain SuiteFlow workflows (approvals, validations, routing, notifications, record management) with clear standards and auditability.
  • Develop and maintain SuiteScript 2.x customizations to extend and automate NetSuite behavior safely and efficiently.
  • Build and improve SuiteAnalytics / saved searches / dashboards / Workbooks to support Accounting KPIs, close reporting, and operational visibility.
  • Ensure deliverables are testable and traceable: UAT scenarios, release notes, lightweight documentation, and clean handoffs.
  • Join working sessions/calls with Accounting and technical stakeholders to refine requirements, propose options, and deliver solutions.
  • Reduce outsourcing by owning the recurring backlog internally and escalating only rare/specialized items externally.
  • Continuously improve workflows and reporting based on feedback, new requirements, and performance insights.
Your Profile
  • 6-10+ years of software engineering experience, including meaningful NetSuite development exposure.
  • Proven delivery of workflows + automations + reporting in an ERP/Finance context (close, approvals, controls, auditability).
  • Strong hands-on expertise in SuiteScript 2.x (build + troubleshoot + maintain).
  • Strong hands-on expertise in SuiteFlow workflow design and troubleshooting.
  • Strong reporting capability: SuiteAnalytics Workbooks, saved searches, dashboards, KPI reporting.
  • Comfortable translating Accounting needs into technical solutions; responsive, clear, delivery-focused stakeholder style.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals: versioning, safe deployments, structured testing/UAT, logging, and performance-minded design.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in working sessions with cross-functional teams.
  • Bonus: experience at a NetSuite partner/consulting firm or in a high-velocity environment.
  • Bonus: integrations experience (SuiteTalk/REST/SOAP/middleware) and/or relevant NetSuite certifications.
Life at Dulcedo!
