Job description

Position Summary

Albemarle is hiring a Health, Safety and Environmental Manager for the Silver Peak Site Lithium Mine and processing plant in Silver Peak, Nevada. The HSE Supervisor will work with the Operations and Maintenance teams to deliver operational excellence in safety and environmental compliance, supervise a small team, and report to the Site Director.

What You Will Do
  • Ensure compliance with government safety and environmental regulations and company expectations.
  • Act as the Silver Peak Site subject matter expert for HSE.
  • Lead the HSE program as part of the site’s Leadership Team.
  • Oversee safety auditing and management engagement across the site.
  • Lead and manage HSE training programs to keep them current and effective.
  • Develop and manage NA safety training program to achieve compliance with MSHA and OSHA standards.
  • Champion Albemarle Life Saving rules such as Permit to Work and Lock out/Tag out systems.
  • Lead or delegate HSE improvement projects.
  • Lead or delegate HSE-related investigations.
  • Oversee the Emergency Response Team.
  • Perform safety related reporting for internal and external audiences.
What You Bring

Required:

  • 5+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing, petroleum industry, or mining safety program management.
  • B.S. Technical Degree.
  • Training experience.
  • Experience in safety compliance auditing.
  • Ability to manage multiple activities with varied scope, schedule, and priorities.
  • Experience in developing, implementing, and continuously improving safety systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to influence by building strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to create and manage documentation from multiple parallel efforts at the same time.

Preferred:

  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Safety Management Specialist (SMS) credentials.
  • Competency in both OSHA and MSHA compliance.
  • Demonstrated influential leadership skills.
  • Expert level knowledge of safety standards and best practices.
