Job description

The AV Consultant Liaison is responsible for building awareness, preference, and specification influence for NETGEAR Pro AV networking solutions within the professional audiovisual consultant community. This role will develop trusted relationships with AV, broadcast, and technology consultants; educate design influencers on NETGEAR's AV-over-IP and managed networking portfolio; and help translate consultant engagement into measurable project pipeline, basis-of-design opportunities, and long-term market preference.
This position is not a traditional territory sales role. It is a strategic market-development role focused on consultant advocacy, early-stage project influence, technical education, and collaboration with NETGEAR sales, engineering, product, marketing, distribution, and integrator-facing teams.
Location: North America; major AV consultant markets preferred. Remote-based with regular travel to consultant, integrator, industry, and NETGEAR meetings.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute a consultant engagement strategy across priority North American AV consultant firms, design-build influencers, broadcast consultants, and technology advisory practices.
  • Build and maintain senior-level relationships with principals, designers, engineers, project managers, and specification leaders within targeted consultant organizations.
  • Drive awareness of NETGEAR Pro AV solutions through consultant briefings, lunch-and-learns, design reviews, webinars, trade events, demos, and one-on-one technical education.
  • Position NETGEAR as a trusted networking partner for AV-over-IP, broadcast AV, enterprise AV, education, corporate, hospitality, venue, and commercial technology projects.
  • Influence early-stage project requirements, basis-of-design decisions, specifications, standards, and consultant recommendations where NETGEAR solutions are a strong fit.
  • Partner with NETGEAR sales leaders and regional territory managers to identify consultant-led projects and connect specification influence to integrator, end-user, and distribution opportunities.
  • Maintain a qualified consultant-influenced opportunity pipeline in Salesforce, including project stage, consultant firm, integrator/end-user details, specification status, expected value, timing, and next steps.
  • Collaborate with product management, design engineering, and marketing to capture consultant feedback, identify product or documentation gaps, and improve NETGEAR's consultant-facing resources.
  • Create and continuously improve consultant-facing tools such as design guides, reference architectures, technical briefs, specification language, BOM examples, and presentation materials.
  • Represent NETGEAR at relevant industry events, consultant forums, standards discussions, and regional market activities to strengthen brand credibility within the AV consultant community.
  • Track and report engagement metrics, specification wins, influenced pipeline, consultant adoption trends, competitive insights, and barriers to project conversion.
  • Maintain strong product, market, and networking knowledge to credibly advise consultants on the right NETGEAR solutions for their project requirements.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in professional audiovisual, broadcast AV, AV-over-IP, commercial technology, networking, or related channel/business development roles.
  • Demonstrated experience working with AV consultants, design engineers, integrators, manufacturers, distributors, or end users in the Pro AV market.
  • Strong understanding of AV-over-IP architectures, managed switching, network design concepts, multicast, VLANs, QoS, PoE, and related IP networking terminology.
  • Proven ability to build trust with technical audiences and translate complex networking concepts into practical AV design guidance.
  • Excellent presentation, facilitation, written communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience influencing specifications, design standards, or early-stage project requirements in a long-cycle sales environment.
  • Strong organizational discipline, including accurate Salesforce usage, pipeline tracking, account planning, and follow-through across multiple stakeholders.
  • Self-starting, collaborative, and highly accountable working style with the ability to operate independently in a national or regional role.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% for consultant meetings, industry events, internal meetings, and customer or partner engagements.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Existing relationships with leading North American AV consultant firms, design consultants, broadcast consultants, or enterprise technology advisory practices.
  • Experience with NETGEAR Pro AV, AV-over-IP ecosystems, SMPTE ST 2110, Dante, NDI, SDVoE, AES67, Crestron, AMX, Q-SYS, Extron, or related AV platforms and protocols.
  • Experience developing consultant programs, certification programs, design guides, specification templates, or technical enablement content.
  • CTS, CTS-D, CTS-I, Network+, CCNA, or similar AV/networking certifications.
  • Experience in corporate AV, higher education, hospitality, sports/venue, house of worship, broadcast, government, or large commercial verticals.
  • Comfort presenting to executive, technical, and mixed stakeholder audiences at industry events or consultant-led sessions.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to travel up to 50%, including air travel, overnight stays, customer and consultant site visits, and industry events.
  • Ability to participate in meetings, presentations, and trade-show activities for extended periods.
  • Ability to occasionally transport or handle demo equipment and event materials, typically up to 25 lbs.

Success Measures:
  • Growth in active consultant relationships and strategic consultant account coverage.
  • Number and quality of consultant education sessions, design reviews, and technical engagements completed.
  • Consultant-influenced project pipeline created, advanced, or converted in collaboration with the sales team.
  • Specification wins, basis-of-design placements, reference architecture adoption, and documented consultant preference for NETGEAR solutions.
  • Quality of Salesforce reporting, forecast inputs, competitive intelligence, and consultant feedback shared internally.
  • Improvement in consultant-facing assets, tools, and technical resources that reduce design friction and increase confidence in NETGEAR solutions.
