Systems Engineer
Position Overview
 We deliver the world's most advanced security technology solutions across a broad range of competencies. We analyze, assess, develop, and integrate security solutions, whether the focus is on mobile tactical platforms, critical infrastructure, or hundreds of miles of an international border. Our mission is to design and implement highly technical solutions to make our nation safer. 

The Systems Engineer is responsible for developing and supporting a variety of complex Security solutions and technologies, both independently and within engineering and technical teams. You will have a meaningful impact in the defense of our national security.
Key Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and maintain server and virtualization platforms (vSphere, HyperV) and manage virtual machines, templates, and resource pools.
  • Administer on-premises and cloud infrastructure (Azure), including integration with identity and access services such as Active Directory and Entra ID.
  • Support and maintain network infrastructure and perimeter devices, including routing/switching and firewalls (Cisco, FortiGate, Ubiquiti, Netgear).
  • Implement and manage endpoint protection and EDR tools (SentinelOne) and contribute to cybersecurity monitoring and incident response processes.
  • Configure and manage device and identity management tools such as Intune and related MDM/MAM solutions.
  • Automate routine tasks and configuration management using Bash, PowerShell, and Ansible to improve reliability and reduce manual effort.
  • Deploy and manage containerized workloads (Docker) and support application platform requirements.
  • Perform vulnerability assessment, remediation coordination, patch management, and implement security hardening and authentication best practices (LDAP, SAML, MFA).
  • Monitor system health, capacity planning, backups, and disaster recovery processes; respond to production incidents and execute root cause analysis.
  • Document architectures, runbooks, and standard operating procedures; mentor and collaborate with other engineers and IT stakeholders to deliver projects on schedule.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Systems Engineer or similar role with solid hands-on experience in systems administration and infrastructure engineering (3+ years preferred).
  • Strong experience with virtualization platforms: VMware vSphere and/or Microsoft Hyper-V.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure, including IaaS and identity integrations (Entra ID).
  • Proficient with Windows Server and Active Directory administration and working knowledge of Linux system administration.
  • Familiarity with network infrastructure and security appliances: Cisco, FortiGate, Ubiquiti, Netgear; solid understanding of routing, switching, VLANs, and firewall policies.
  • Experience with endpoint protection/EDR solutions such as SentinelOne and device management via Intune.
  • Scripting and automation skills using PowerShell and Bash; configuration management experience with Ansible.
  • Working knowledge of container technologies (Docker) and experience supporting containerized applications.
  • Understanding of authentication protocols, identity management, and security fundamentals, including vulnerability management and remediation processes.
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, backups, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills with a customer-focused mindset.
  • Relevant certifications are a plus (e.g., Microsoft, VMware, CCNA, CompTIA Security+, CISSP or equivalent).
  • Nice to have: demonstrated experience with VMWare, Azure, Linux, Active Directory, Cybersecurity, Entra, Intune, SentinelOne, Network Infrastructure, Firewalls, Bash, PowerShell, Ansible, Ubiquiti, Cisco, FortiGate, Netgear, vSphere, HyperV, Docker, Authentication, Vulnerability management.
