It is not an officially advertised Netflix position but rather a general term for those who professionally review Netflix content.

Does Netflix pay you $45 an hour to watch movies?

Netflix reviewers are typically paid an hourly wage that varies by position and location, but $45 an hour is uncommon for such roles. Most reviewer positions are paid closer to standard freelance or part-time rates, and high pay rates like that are rare in the industry. It is important to verify job offers through official channels to avoid scams.

How do you become a reviewer on Netflix?

To become a Netflix reviewer, candidates typically need strong writing and analytical skills, a good understanding of film and television, and the ability to provide detailed feedback. Some roles may require prior experience in media critique or content review, and applicants often submit a portfolio or writing samples during the application process.

Some reviewers are hired directly by Netflix or third-party companies for promotional or evaluative purposes, often requiring relevant experience, good communication skills, and knowledge of the streaming industry.

Is Netflix reviewer a legit job?

A Netflix reviewer is a real role that involves watching and evaluating content for quality, often requiring strong analytical skills and familiarity with streaming platforms. However, some listings claiming to be Netflix reviewer jobs may be scams, so it is important to verify the legitimacy of the employer and avoid paying fees upfront.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Netflix Reviewer position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Netflix Reviewer, you need strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent written communication, typically supported by a background in journalism, film studies, or media. Familiarity with multimedia review platforms, content management systems, and search engine optimization (SEO) tools is valuable. Creativity, adaptability, and meeting tight deadlines are important soft skills for this role. These competencies help produce engaging, insightful reviews that attract audiences and maintain professional credibility in a competitive media landscape.

What does a typical day look like for a Netflix Reviewer?

A typical day for a Netflix Reviewer involves watching assigned Netflix shows or movies, taking comprehensive notes, and conducting background research on related topics or creators. Reviewers then craft detailed, engaging write-ups or video reviews that meet editorial guidelines and style requirements, often under tight deadlines. Collaboration with editors and other reviewers is common to ensure content accuracy and consistency. Some days may also include interacting with readers or viewers, staying up-to-date with industry trends, and attending media screenings or virtual events. This dynamic work environment is ideal for self-motivated individuals who thrive on consuming and critiquing a wide variety of media content.

Job description

At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology. Come be a part of what's next.
Our Content & Business Products (CBP) Engineering teams build the products and services to optimize and automate the content creation process including content planning, financing, production, promotion, and distribution. We support Netflix's enterprise needs including Finance, Talent, Tech Support, and Customer Support to ensure smooth operations. Our products enable the entire workflow of content production, from pitch to play, and provide innovative new ways to develop and manage entertainment at scale. The team's work is critical to supporting the creation of movies and TV series that will thrill the world!
We are looking for talented distributed systems engineers like you to help build the technologies that allow us to scale our efforts across the globe, and do so effectively and efficiently! You'll have a direct impact on how the Netflix studio creates and promotes shows such as "Squid Game", "Stranger Things" and "The Queen's Gambit" on a global scale.
We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive team to bring new perspectives as we solve the next set of challenges. In addition, we are open to remote candidates - we value what you can do, from anywhere in the U.S..
You will be successful in this role if you enjoy:
  • Being self-motivated and working independently, while collaborating with engineers on the team and cross functional teams (product managers and TPMs).
  • Empowering other engineers by building and operating robust, scalable, and highly available infrastructures, with a focus on developer experience, observability and operational excellence.
  • Being passionate about code quality and engineering best practices.
  • Embracing and thriving in ambiguity. Complex and fuzzy requirements are more common than clearly defined customer expectations.
  • Living the Netflix's culture and thinking you would thrive here.

Qualifications:
  • Have 2+ years of experience working on distributed systems features or applications.
  • Have recent proficient experience with Java, C# or other OO programming languages, as well as OO design principles.
  • Have a good understanding of concepts like multithreading and parallelism, as well as software observability.
  • Experience in developing microservices, data modeling and API designs.
  • Have the ability to describe complex technical concepts to cross functional team peers, driving conversations and decisions through written and/or verbal communication.
  • Participate in our on-call rotation and lead the incident reviews.

Nice to have:
  • Experience in building infrastructure and platforms.
  • Experience in API design and implementation using gRPC and/or GraphQL.
  • Experience in any of the following areas: cloud storage/file system, data platform, event-driven infrastructure, ontology, and workflow orchestration.
  • You leverage AI-assisted coding tools to accelerate the software development lifecycle.
  • You actively seek out and vet new AI-driven development tools to boost overall team productivity and operational efficiency.

Spotlight on CBP Engineering Teams:
Media Infrastructure Platform (MIP)
The Media Infrastructure Platform team provides large-scale infrastructure for content media, enabling Netflix to store, access, and process media files at scale, reliably, and efficiently to meet the demands of Netflix streaming and studio. Our products are highly leveraged by Encoding, Netflix Studio, and Content Engineering. We closely partner with a variety of cross-functional teams, including Encoding Technology, Netflix Engineering Platform, Data Science Engineering, and Content Engineering, as well as Product Managers. The team currently owns a few key products such as a polyglot application framework, and container-based executor for media-aware serverless functions with observability tools and workflow orchestration frameworks, a storage layer built on top of S3 with a set of features like file and folder solution, lifecycle management, media sequence detection, Netflix access control, security, client side encryption, full file checksum, etc. Besides the cloud services the team currently owns, the team is also looking to grow into a more diverse and hybrid media processing and storage media space to meet the needs of business growth.
Content MiddleWare Infrastructure - Messaging (MWI Messaging)
The Content MiddleWare Infrastructure Messaging team (MWI Messaging), part of the Content Infrastructure Solutions (CIS) group, provides CBP Engineering, highly leveraged, and fully managed eventing, notification and communications platform solutions to empower CBP Engineering teams. Our platform solutions are widely adopted by CBP Engineering teams, serving a wide range of internal engineering teams and impacting hundreds of thousands of internal and external business users all over the world.
