We are seeking a Lead Editor for an upcoming CG-animated feature film at Netflix Animation Studios. As Lead Editor, you will partner closely with Directors, Producers, and key creative leadership, serving as the primary creative editorial force across all phases of the production-from storyboards and shot production through final comp. Your storytelling vision will help shape the film's structure, pacing, performances, and tone; crafting a cohesive, cinematic, and emotionally resonant feature film designed to captivate audiences around the world on Netflix.

Leading a team of Editors and Assistant Editors, you will ensure clear, organized, and compelling visual storytelling across the entire editorial department and end-to-end production pipeline. You will collaborate extensively with Music, Sound Design, and Mix teams on temp and final tracks to elevate narrative impact, while consistently implementing feedback from stakeholders at every stage of production with clarity and candor. In this role, you will champion strong team communication, studio-wide alignment, and creative excellence.

What You'll Do: Lead the editing process for the animated feature film, from assembly to final cut. Make pivotal choices regarding pacing, acting, dialogue, music, and sound effects to elevate the quality and impact of the animated project. Partner with directors, producers, and executives to uphold quality from the storyboard phase to the final animation version.

Guide and manage a team of editors and assistant editors, offering leadership throughout each stage of the editing process. Partner with the producer, production supervisor, and story department to develop and execute the screening cycle plan, ensuring timely and efficient review cycles. Ensure precise preparation of editorial materials for production screenings and third-party exports.

Drive editorial communication and interaction with integrated End to End Studio - communicate shot information to production floor, receiving shot information and updates from production floor. Serve as an integral member of the production team, engaging with production staff and story animation/VFX experts. Foster strong communication and partnership with Lead Editors, Head of Layout and Head of Animation Participate actively in feedback sessions with creative and managerial teams.

Oversee the implementation of adjustments based on insights from production screenings. May conduct sound material mixing in Avid or participate in external mixing sessions to achieve superior sound quality. Streamline production and post-production workflows to ensure efficient and timely progress.

Collaborate with grace, humility, inclusion, and open-mindedness What You'll Need: 10+ years of experience on animated features, shorts or series. Priority for those with multiple recent Lead Editor animated feature film studio credits Advanced technical knowledge of AVID Media Composer Strong understanding of Animation pre-production, production and post production processes Strong team leadership and communication skills Interpersonal communication skills Maintain decorum around high profile talent Organized and detail-oriented Collaborative Ability to follow clear direction Resourcefulness Proactive team member Flexible/Adaptable Positive problem solver Time management Strong collaborative and communication skills Willing to take direction, interpret and execute notes Proven ability to deliver and accept feedback Excellent verbal, written, and e-social communication skills Location: This job is based in the US out of the Burbank, California office. At NAS we carefully consider a wide range of compensation factors to determine your compensation.

We rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, location, skills, and experience. The overall market range for this role is typically $5,000.00/week - $6,500.00/week. This reflects total compensation; we do not have bonuses This job may be covered by a collective bargaining agreement

If so, pay for the position is governed by the currently effective applicable collective bargaining agreement and thus will be no less than $4,467.11/week and up to any better conditions and terms negotiated and obtained as expressly provided therein. Depending on whether you are covered by a collective bargaining agreement, NAS benefits can include medical/dental/vision plans, mental health support, retirement programs, and family-forming benefits, paid leave of absence programs, and paid time away programs to be used for vacation and sick paid time off.
