Digital Distribution Intern

NEON internships are designed to provide meaningful, hands-on experience and exposure to the day-to-day operations that bring acclaimed independent films to audiences worldwide. For students interested in careers in entertainment, media, distribution, or business, an internship with NEON offers a unique opportunity to gain practical industry knowledge, build professional relationships, and learn from a team passionate about independent film.

As a Digital Distribution Intern, you will work closely with NEON's Home Entertainment and Digital Distribution teams, supporting the release and management of films across digital platforms. This internship is based in person at NEON's New York City office and will provide exposure to all aspects of the home entertainment lifecycle for both NEON titles and select third-party releases.

Digital Distribution Intern Responsibilities:
  • Monitor the competitive landscape for quantitative updates and trends through our various tracking boards across the TVOD, SVOD, and AVOD spaces.
  • Assist in monitoring platform placement on VOD/EST release dates.
  • Identify promotional opportunities to bolster catalog sales and increase NEON brand presence.
  • Manage metadata resources and internally communicate to ensure the accuracy of all fields (synopsis, cast, MPA rating, etc.).
  • Support with any PR and pre-screening needs for upcoming DECAL films.
  • Update presentation documents for upcoming pitches to various platform partners.
  • Assist with internal NEON project management for physical media including packaging, bonus creation, disc authoring, vendor handoff, asset storage, and timelines.
  • Ability to pull clips and stills from features for upcoming releases.
  • Attending weekly internal meetings.
  • Creating dialogue transcripts.
  • Distribution of screener files for features and trailers.
  • Assisting with asset deliveries to third-party partners.
  • Conduct research on marketing and distribution plans to develop a strong understanding of the competitive landscape; create case study decks showcasing past successful releases.

We offer a competitive hourly rate of $18.00 per hour. School credit is optional, and documentation can be provided if needed. No relocation assistance is available. Our interns are onsite and in person based in either the New York or the Los Angeles office.

Requirements

What We Are Looking For:
  • Applicants must be currently enrolled as undergraduate students at an accredited college or university during the internship
  • .Strong computer skills, particularly in Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience working with spreadsheets, tracking systems, or large datasets is a plus.
  • Prior Adobe Photoshop and Premiere experience is a plus, but not required
  • Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage information accurately across multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Interest in film distribution, home entertainment, streaming platforms, and the evolving digital media landscape.
  • Curiosity about the business side of film, including release strategies, platform partnerships, audience trends, and how films reach audiences across digital platforms.
  • Strong research, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to identify trends and clearly present findings.
  • Proactive, collaborative, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with NEON's film slate and a passion for independent cinema are strongly encouraged.
  • Prior internship in entertainment, media, operations, project coordination, data management, or research is a plus, but not required.
