Position Title: Senior Technician/Team Leader

Description:
Orion Security Solutions is seeking a qualified technical security technician for a full-time position to be based in Edmond, OK. Orion Security Solutions (OSS) is an elite integration firm with expertise in advanced technical, physical, and information technology (IT) security solutions. The purpose of a Senior Technician/Team Lead is to lead site technicians towards effective and efficient installation and integration of security solutions for our customers. This position requires effective personnel and time management skills to organize and lead project teams.
Minimum Education
High school or GED
Minimum experience:
4+ years of hands-on experience installing and commissioning low-voltage security systems, including Access Control, Video Surveillance (CCTV), and Intrusion Detection Systems. Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of supervisory or lead installer experience, overseeing installation teams, coordinating field activities, ensuring quality standards, and supporting system design, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning.
Areas of Responsibility
  • Lead installation and integration teams of technicians to complete projects on time and within budget.
  • Work closely with the associated project manager to ensure the project management plan is followed and properly executed.
  • Maintain transparency with the project manager with respect to project status, needs, expectations, and details.
  • Mentor and train subordinates.
  • Coordinate with the customer to ensure the relationship stays strong and the scope of work is properly completed.
  • Ensure safety requirements are followed, and any incidents are reported.
  • Perform other responsibilities assigned or requires based on the needs of OSS.

Desired Skillset
Extensive hands-on experience installing, programming, testing, and commissioning low-voltage security systems, including:
  • Installing and terminating cabling (Cat5e/Cat6, fiber, and low-voltage wiring) in accordance with NEC and industry standards
  • Mounting and wiring security devices such as access control panels, door hardware, card readers, keypads, request-to-exit devices, cameras, motion detectors, and alarm contacts
  • Configuring and programming access control systems, video management systems (VMS), and intrusion panels
  • Performing system testing, validation, and commissioning to ensure proper operation, coverage, and compliance with project specifications
  • Troubleshooting and resolving hardware, software, wiring, and network-related issues during installation and post-installation
  • Integrating multiple security platforms and subsystems to operate as a cohesive solution
  • Advanced knowledge of security system components, wiring methods, and industry standards for commercial and enterprise environments
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for system hardware, software, and network connectivity issues
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, riser diagrams, floor plans, and technical specifications
  • Experience leading and supervising installation teams, assigning tasks, mentoring junior technicians, and ensuring quality workmanship
  • Ability to coordinate with project managers, customers, and other trades to meet project timelines and scope requirements
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals related to security systems, including IP addressing, PoE, switches, and basic VLAN concepts
  • Skilled in system documentation, as-built drawings, and commissioning reports
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (NEC, local AHJ requirements, UL, and manufacturer best practices)
  • Strong focus on safety, compliance, and maintaining a professional jobsite environment
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize workloads, and work independently with minimal supervision
