Trailer Mechanic Responsibilities

The Trailer Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing dry van trailers to ensure safe and compliant operation.

Key responsibilities include:

• Inspecting trailers for mechanical, electrical, structural, and safety issues

• Diagnosing and repairing trailer systems and components

• Repairing electrical wiring, lighting, and brake systems

• Servicing pneumatic and air brake systems

• Performing preventative maintenance inspections

• Conducting scheduled maintenance and repairs

• Repairing trailer doors, floors, roofs, walls, and structural components

• Maintaining DOT compliance standards

• Completing repair documentation accurately

• Working independently and as part of a maintenance team

• Following company safety procedures and maintenance standards

This position plays a critical role in keeping our transportation fleet safe, reliable, and operational.

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include:

• 2+ years of trailer repair, fleet maintenance, or related mechanical experience

• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills

• Experience with commercial trailers, dry vans, or transportation equipment preferred

• Ability to work independently and efficiently

• Strong attention to safety and quality workmanship

• Knowledge of DOT inspection and maintenance requirements preferred

Physical Requirements

This is a hands-on mechanic position requiring physical activity throughout the shift.

Candidates must be able to:

• Lift and move 80+ pounds regularly

• Climb in, under, and around trailers

• Work with tools and maintenance equipment safely

• Operate foot and hand controls

• Work outdoors throughout the year in varying weather conditions

• Handle heavy trailer components and repair materials

Compensation and Schedule

• $18.50 – $20.00 per hour based on experience

• Full-time position

• Monday through Friday

• Second Shift
