About The Role
Super Steel is looking for a knowledgeable, hands-on CWI / Weld Instructor to support both our Quality Department and our growing welding team. This role is ideal for an experienced welder or inspector who enjoys mentoring others, ensuring high-quality workmanship, and helping strengthen weld processes across the shop.
You'll play a key part in training welders, supporting weld tests, verifying procedures, and maintaining compliance with AWS and customer standards. If you're passionate about welding quality and enjoy helping others succeed, this is a great opportunity to step into a leadership-influencing role.
Key Responsibilities
  • Weld Training & Instruction - Provide hands-on guidance to welders, support new-hire weld tests, and help develop skill-building training modules.
  • Weld Inspection & Verification - Conduct visual and dimensional inspections on welds across various projects.
  • Procedure Compliance - Ensure welding procedures, techniques, and documentation meet AWS, ASME, and customer specifications.
  • NDT Review - Review destructive and non-destructive testing documentation for accuracy and compliance.
  • Technical Support - Provide guidance to welders and production teams on best practices, quality expectations, and corrective actions.
  • Quality Documentation - Maintain detailed inspection reports, weld maps, and traceability records.
  • Continuous Improvement - Identify non-conformances, recommend corrective actions, and support follow-up resolution.
  • Safety & Compliance - Ensure all inspections and training activities align with safety and environmental regulations.

Qualifications
  • Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) through AWS, or ability to obtain certification.
  • Strong background in welding inspection, fabrication, or weld quality.
  • Solid understanding of welding codes and standards (AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, etc.).
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to teach, coach, and support welders.
  • Proficiency with inspection tools and documentation.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Additional NDT certifications (UT, RT, MT, PT).
  • Experience with quality management systems (ISO 9001, AS9100).
  • Prior experience training welders or supporting weld tests.
