MITRE's Nuclear Enterprise is seeking highly motivated candidates to serve as NC2/NC3 systems engineers to work as part of the MITRE team supporting our Department of Defense sponsors. Our sponsors are requesting MITRE provide technical leadership and assist them in solving many of today's most challenging transformation issues while making the world a safer place. In this role, you will help address operational challenges associated with nuclear command and control, define and evaluate potential NC3 future architectures and address international security problems by applying advanced capabilities and technology to real world operational needs. These solutions are expected to be implemented in the near term and strategically position the sponsor to address longer term critical challenges. We have openings in MITRE's Bedford location. Roles & Responsibilities: We are seeking a highly motivated candidate to serve as a multi-discipline systems engineer with a focus on the NC2 and NC3 operational domain. The results of this work will guide large scale acquisitions and shape future capabilities in order to modernize the nuclear enterprise across the Air Force. Basic Qualifications: * Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
* Bachelor's Degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a similar field, including most engineering disciplines
* 5-8 years of related experience within the NC2/NC3 mission area.
* Active Secret clearance with ability to obtain Top Secret SCI and SAP clearances.
* U.S. Citizenship required.
* Ability to work independently to learn new technologies, techniques, processes, software languages, platforms, and systems.
* Expertise to provide unbiased advice, formulate courses of action, analyze programs, and make recommendations across a wide spectrum of issues.
* Passionate, goal driven, team-oriented and outgoing. Flexible, self-starter, and demonstrated ability to operate effectively with ambiguous and evolving objectives.
* Effective communication skills.
* This position requires a minimum of 4 days a week on-site. Preferred Qualifications: * MS in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a similar field, including most engineering disciplines.
* 8+ years of relevant experience within the NC2/NC3 mission area with exposure to range of systems engineering lifecycle activities (requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, sustainment)
* Current/active TS clearance
* Prior experience at Combatant Command or Joint Staff level (MITRE, military, civilian, and/or contractor)
* Experience with Department of Defense (DoD) regulations, standards, and specifications. Demonstrated flexibility to adapt to changing sponsor requirements and collaborate across work programs and projects.
* Prior leadership experience.
* Familiarity with MITRE's existing work. This requisition requires the candidate to have a minimum of the following clearance(s):
