Job Description

The iHeart Radio / NBC News Channel Producer will cover DC focused news-of-the-day (and other stories of interest) for the iHeart Radio network and NBC News Channel. 

This is a scheduled 9am - 6pm, Monday - Friday position with the expectation of evenings, nights and weekends when warranted due to news events.

Job Duties:

  • Write and edit DC focused vo/sot clips for both iHeart Radio and NBC News Channel.
  • Respond quickly to DC/Government breaking news and prioritize big stories to push to iHeart and Orbit
  • Utilize various workflows to publish an item (story) to iHeart Radio and News Channel VOD platform, Orbit
  • Work closely with the iHeart Radio Assignment Desk and NBC News Channel DC Bureau team as well as NBC News DC Bureau Desk, NBC News Channel Assignment Desk and NBC News Channel News Desk
  • Follow all NBC News employee policies, Rights and Clearances guidance when warranted
Qualifications

Basic Requirements: 

  • 2+ years broadcast, affiliate or radio news script writing experience
  • Bachelor's degree - preferably in journalism or communications 
  • Must be able to work flexible hours during major breaking news
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong editorial judgment
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments
  • Strong work ethic and organizational skills

Additional Requirements: 

Hybrid: This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time. 

This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
