Position Summary:
The Broadcast Comms Lead will oversee the NBA's intercom and communications systems within the Broadcast Support Engineering team. This individual will provide technical leadership, hands-on expertise, and strategic direction to ensure reliable, high-performance communications across all broadcast operations. The role requires a strong background in intercom/audio systems, deep technical knowledge of IP-based broadcast workflows, and proven leadership in supporting mission-critical live production environments.
Major Responsibilities:
  • Lead the configuration, maintenance, and optimization of intercom and audio systems, including Riedel Artist, Riedel Bolero, RTS, and related platforms.

  • Oversee upgrades and ongoing support of broadcast intercom systems (matrix, panels, IP endpoints, wireless, and hybrid solutions).

  • Monitor and troubleshoot system performance in real time during live broadcasts and events.

  • Manage routing and signal flow between production control rooms, studios, remote sites, and live venues.

  • Collaborate with broadcast engineers, IT teams, and third-party vendors to deliver system upgrades, expansions, and lifecycle management.

  • Ensure performance and reliability of master control and signal distribution services.

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, workflows, and standard operating procedures.

  • Provide training and guidance to operators and end users on intercom functionality and best practices.

  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule, providing emergency response and technical leadership during incidents.

Required Education/Professional Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • 5 -8 years of technical engineering experience in broadcast or live production environments

Required Skills/Knowledge Attributes:
  • Deep expertise with intercom and audio systems, particularly Riedel.

  • Strong knowledge of broadcast communications standards and technologies (AES67, SMPTE ST 2110, Dante, RVON, PTP).

  • Solid understanding of IP-based broadcast infrastructure (routers, switchers, audio consoles, networking).

  • Hands-on experience with broadcast intercom systems such as RTS, Clear-Com, or Riedel.

  • Experience with RF communications and frequency coordination.

  • Strong troubleshooting, vendor management, and lifecycle planning skills.

  • Ability to perform in high-pressure, live production environments.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively under tight deadlines.

  • Flexibility to travel and work nights, weekends, and non-standard hours as needed.

Salary Range:
